Re: Afrihost Mobile, Cell C, MTN, Telkom Mobile/8ta, Vodacom.

R300 - 20GB : 15/GB.
R600 - 50GB : 12/GB.
R1000 - 100GB : R10/GB.
R2000 - 250GB : R8/GB.

At least 50% of this must be day time data:

20GB = 10GB day time.
50GB = 25GB day time.
100GB = 50GB day time.
250GB = 125GB day time.

And also throw uncapped in the mix:
R1000 - 50GB FUP, throttle to 512Kbps.
R2000 - 100GB FUP, throttle to 512Kbps.
With some packages that offer midnight data as well.

Telkom Mobile already offer 20GB (10GB midnight) for R199 on a 12 month contract, kudos to them. That's R10/GB.
Afrihost Mobile has shaked the market with 10GB for 197 (trial at date of writing). That's R20/GB.
Vodacom used to have 20GB for R499 (R25/GB), now it's 20GB/R999. That's R50/GB.
So a step in the right direction.
[Cell C I see also offering 20GB for R999 on 24 month !contract. That's R50/GB.]

Figures are thumb sucked, but you get the idea.

Keyword: prepaid/month-to-month, 6 (or 12 at most) month contract. We do welcome promotions/trials with hopefully a decent uptake and subsequent standard prices.

This will see a decline in fixed line subscriber base and an abrupt incline in mobile broadband support. This is the chance to kill Telkom, we're tired of being monopolised by them.

It won't kill Telkom, wired Internet is a base for Internet communication in all over the world. Wireless is only supplemental.

Besides, don't kill Telkom, unbundle line rental from add-on services like voice/data.

Well, true, ADSL will always exist, what I meant was detract customers from them to mobile broadband, then they are likely to shake things up and undo with LLU.

Afaik it a 24 month contract and only to existing customers
