Update on my service cancellation request:
I have given up, I guess I will just continue using them. They haven't billed me yet so I'm hoping I won't get a shock when they finally do.
The thing is, I can't just keep calling them and explaining the same thing to different people. Their pricing and dodgy T and Cs had really put me off but their internet works well so will try cancelling when I have real issues. Guess will have to go and fetch the free router that I had returned and sell it.

Mn... Also on the "try before you buy" ; activated past Monday after 40 days of back and forth.

To their credit the old ISP did not release the B number and somehow the B number changed (probably because it was not active for 4 months).

Service is good (40/20 on Openserve). But my 50/50 Metrofibre is cheaper (and for local I get 55Mbps). International is however MUCH better on Supersonic..

But my needs are currently more local/cached.

Guess I will have to start phoning sooner rather than later to get Supersonic cancelled then.

Wish there was a "capped" option for around R200 / 10Mbps to just have the line "active"... But yeah Rain LTE for R250 is probably a better backup (Mobile so can use it "everywhere")...
 
Just made a payment for the coming month with CC on their website but the page timed out but got email confirmation from vcs/paygate about my payment and SMS confirmation but website does not show the payment :rolleyes:

Does Supersonic appear as an account on your transunion credit report? I know when I was with MTN fibre direct it showed up as an MTN account.

Yikes thats a crazy amount to pay for cancellation especially on a month to month contract....they never installed anything, all they did was activate my line which i understand to be R1000 and provide a router which i never used. Though i did get a free smart wifi pod which was R1299....

No I don't use VPN it will just slow me down. Interesting I did not check but I usually get a email from Transunion if there is changes to my credit report. :unsure:

Activation on Openserve is R590 and R999 on Vumatel. You can return the router even in a used state to get that taken off. If they never installed anything they can't charge you for it. Also depending on how long you have been with them the amount should have depreciated a bit for the remaining bits. Take them on.

good point....since 1 feb....and with 30 day notice....it would be 3 months
 
I just got an sms from my bank stating that a new debit order has been setup by supersonic and an amount of R374 has been debited.

Wtf is this? Isn't the first month suppose to be free?

It is 100% free. I got a credit of R1499 for my first month. Check the statement to see what is going on.
 
Thought I would binge watch a series today but it seems all international traffic is at a cripple today.:cautious:

NYC spectrum server gives me 18mbps down but 1080p still buffers every 2 seconds, I wonder if im getting shaped by supersonic.Screenshot_20190406-154032.png

You sure it's not a Vumatel thing? International 100% my side.

Not sure but it's been happening during peak times a lot.

I just tried using a vpn and everything works perfect. I use a smart dns service when streaming and it has been buffering during night time peak hours but I tried 4 different dns providers and they are all doing it.

The dns seems to work MUCH better on the b618 router over this zyxel router so maybe it is the router not playing nice with the custom dns, my android phone is also giving me trouble while the b618 doesn't.
@cavedog have you tried know if the router can be flashed with a firmware update from the zyxel website?

I think I might have to just buy a new router if this keeps up, I will try mess around with settings but I doubt it will help.

It is rather interesting that a dns leak test fails even with cloudfares custom dns of 1.1.1.1
