Mweb = consumer terrorism

I'd recommend Afrihost based on your data usage. I pull more than double what you pull in a month on my 1Mbps line

How is the 'shaping'? Does it effect your overall data speed (Youtube, browsing, downloading, etc...)?

Mweb really need a cancel service option in your account page. They needlessly force you to phone them, which can be absolutely excruciatingly long...

Shaping affects P2P and downloads. It's only implemented when there is strain on the network. Streaming and browsing are not affected. You can get 50% discount off your 1st month through the link in my signature.

Also, if you're not happy with their service, there's a double money back guarantee

LMFAO, he complains about throttling and shaping yet he doesn't know what shaping is.

If you bothered to read my posts, you would see I mentioned what is was. I wanted to know how the shaping was affecting that user. I shouldn't feed the troll...

I'm happy with Openweb unshaped 4mb account. It is the cheapest one they offer and I seldom have hiccups

I am at a crossroads between choosing OpenWeb or Afrihost. I have heard good things and bad things from both. I am slightly leaning towards Afrihost since they have a nice proratta setup for sign up and cancellation. I would like to hear from anyone who has had experience with either of these businesses.
I am looking at:
-Afrihost uncapped ADSL 4mbps = R397
-Openweb everyday uncapped ADSL 4mbps = R295
Wondering how sever their pseudo throttling is (i.e. shaping).

I thought they would just molest your downloads not your streaming and browsing (what there PR said...). I guess It is just a matter of choose the lesser evil...

I got sick of having to give a calendar months notice so I would sign up and cancel on the same day - that way I get to chose again at the end of the month if necessary. If you're happy, sign up for another month and cancel immediately. Works well with afrihost, web africa and openweb. Telkom not so much cos you have to call them to cancel / sign up.

And why should you wait 30 days? Does their system not allow cancellation without micromanagement? Of course it so that they can milk you for your worth...

the best bang for buck for me , is afrihost 2mb business uncapped , R399 ,
NO THROTTLE NO SHAPING 24/7 365
beats all the "gold " accounts

I know exactly how you feel. In the same situation as I moved over to 2mb standard from the 1mb premium and they throttled me down to 0.34mbps and the most I have ever downloaded was 32GB which was last year December. Then phoned them again and told them to put me back on the 1mb premium and speeds went to 0.84mbps.
Im moving to Vox capped as your data doesn't expire within your contract. Afrihost is also a good option.

You know what pisses me off? All these mweb customers complaining and things have been up to schite for months but they don't change ISPs. I have zero sympathy for you people. It's like you are into S&M and you enjoy the biatch whipping your balls! This is getting really old, you have so many other options to chose from...

I also find it odd there are still people being caught out by this.
