Mweb = consumer terrorism

I have multiple ISP accounts, Mweb is my gaming account. I am a heavy internet user and I have never racked up 80 gigs in a month without serious downloading. The pricing on Mweb is not great, but luckily I'm not in a position where a couple of 100 rand matters that much. Go to Afrihost or Axxess, their policies are far more relaxed.

Just how am I hogging downloads? I hardly think my usage based on a 2mbps uncapped line could, in any realm, be considered alot.
What are these fabled "better real time services", they are not service delivery, customer support or competitive pricing? You must be an Mweb troll. This is a serious problem for many users and my self, so next time you want to make whimsical claims, please provide some proof. Oh and Mweb can take that 30 day usage crap and shove it up their filthy corporate a$$h0l3!

Axxess?! My 2Mb account was throttled for 36 gigs of usage. They're awful imo...

Thats weird, my parents and siblings at home have an axxess one and they must push 100GB between them and I've never seen it throttled. They have had that account with Axxess since they brought out the 30gig workaround that masked the 27gigs of local bandwidth u got with a telkom 3gig account as international bandwidth. For that reason alone i still respect Axxess as one of the pioneer ISP's in SA.

What services do you notice throttling one? Torrents, web downloads, streaming etc?

I vowed that if MWEB ever throttled me I would move... so a few months ago they throttled me and I phoned them to cancel. The connection was so bad that I couldn't use it. I chose to endure the dent on my finances and logged onto my AH clientzone and signed up for a 1Meg uncapped account.

After a month with AH I chose to upgrade to the Business Uncapped. I have never looked back since and even when money has been tight I dropped down to 1Meg Business rather than 1Meg normal uncapped. The Business packages from Afrihost are just exceptional.

Now here is my problem.

I convinced my Uncle to go with MWEB. He now has a 4Meg Uncapped Premium package and the family uses about 100GB per month and yet they have not been throttled (trust me, I would get phone calls telling their internet is broken if they got throttled). Now they will move to whichever ISP I suggest but I have been weary of moving them.
If I take them to Afrihost they will probably not notice any shaping because my cousin only torrents at night, but for the rest of the time the connection is used for Youtube and gaming. But looking at the pricing now, I will be able to save them money by moving them over to Afrihost.
Bugger it, I will cancel their MWEB in the new year, then move them over to Afrihost and bundle their line.

My thread is here on the forum. They throttled the entire account, not just certain protocols. I'm certainly no longer with them and I highly doubt that I'll ever consider them again...

the hell with mweb.... I could live with all the shaping... but changing their policies to include throttling on premium accounts was the straw that broke the camel's back... I got throttled today... an now they've lost another customer... I might just be one customer... but from all the posts on this forum it seems i'm one of hundreds that will eventually leave mweb in tatters unless they change their policies.

quite frankly if they can change their user policies that diminish their level of service that their customers have come to enjoy then that should constitute immediate breach on contract esp seeing how these same customers are locked into 1 calendar months notice to cancel their accounts should they be unhappy with the service now being provided, thank f**k the account can be migrated to a 1GB capped account for the final month otherwise i'd be pretty peeved having to pay full price for a service they were no longer providing...
