Other ISP's apart from MWEB have really been knocked to the ground. So far OpenWeb, VOX, Afrihost, @lantic have made pricing adjustments and it would appear that other IS resellers are following soon. What a great way to let the free market decide the prices they want to pay!

Some Questions:

1 - I'd like the issue of the AUP from MWeb sorted out promptly. Afrihost has been very upfront with how they are going to deal with massive leechers. Quite simpily, it is impossible for MWeb to not have some mechanism to curtail the overuse/abuse of the service. The world over has witnessed similar AUP's; so why not be frank and forthcoming with it. You've already stated the the TOS are outdated and relate for the most part to the capped service, so any contractual obligations that arise from that may be voidable if you choose to cut people off if they abuse the service continuously. Some transparency would be great.

2 - Also, the signup process seems rather clumsy to me. I am aware that RICA makes some demands to you, that the customer must abide by. Now though, why are people still having to call the call centre to have their accounts set up or upgraded. In the first instance, why can't people signup online and forward the supporting documents within a reasonable time (where failing to do so results in account suspension)? Secondly, if you already have a service, why can't you just upgrade or down grade online as you should have already sent your supporting documents?

3 - Regarding the shaped service, what are accepted "minimums" for the shaped protocols? It would seem that rapidshare (specifically) and Torrents and P2P et al are sometimes receiving 0Kb/s. Is this not denial, rather than shaped? Whats speeds can one expect as a minimum when the shaping 'machine' is in active?

Would just like to say that the account is priority only atm, nothing else works
 
the beautiful thing is the network is not even on full load yet, others including myself are considering upgrading on the 1st
 
wow is the shaping really that bad ? i wonder how the afrihost accounts are gonna shape out (pun intended)
 
so were the critics right or is this just a fault thats fixable then ?
 
I can assure you that if this is not solved by the end of the month, I , and I am sure many others, will cancel their subscription
 
can't connect, resorting to my screamer(sic) account which is giving better performance

Yes but that was well known before, i don't see the problem though. For me during the day i want email browsing etc to run fast which it is, i am happy to leave my pc on over night to finish my goodies :D.

If the only problem is the shaping of pirated goods during the day well then you best change account or get used to the reality.

Rapidshare, torrents and newsgroups does not mean its pirated.
Just that its likely to be pirated, thin line but its there.
 
try playing battlefield bad company 2 .. keeps disconnecting from ea servers

Dude i cannot even think of a way to answer that without being nasty :D. I think we all know what those are used for and we are all happy about it. There is no need to defend it. Maybe 0.001% of all torrents and nzb's downloaded are legal, now mweb cannot say ok let's let those run full speed :D. So as i said for me leave it over night, done the morning happy camper.

Hmmm i do disconnect quite often i must admit but not anymore than did on my previous account.
