Hi hereticangel,

That is good news :)

Once you receive the details, please PM me so that I can get our business department to look into this.

Regards,

Isn't that because the VPN for the static ips terminate in JHB?

Yeah that's what I'd imagine too. The IP range is just under record as being owned by IS Johannesburg... @hereticangel I dont think they're going to do anything about this, I wouldn't worry about it if I were you

@hereticangel I thought you lived in Azeroth? :)

Seriously glad you're enjoying the product. Tinuva is correct what you are seeing is due to the way the business VPN is provisioned, nothing to be concerned about.

yeah i do after hours :P

yeah nice, we were on some is account from mweb before uncapped launched etc, throttling suxs :P

The old rolling throttle accounts :) We actually had a very nice milestone of finally managing to get the last few users off those accounts recently.

on uncapped 512 line, installed it yesterday, and xbox live is playing like a dream +1 really good, missed my xbox live and its playing just awesome thanks

The worst April fools ....... news servers maxing at 105, ftl

Is this part of the new T&C's, where everything is throttled?

*Edit* - now it's maxing at 15kbps

Hi Mephisto - it looks like the speedtest server you're using is not on a network that's peered with us, please try using one in JHB for a more accurate result.

well my newservers like going like 1 or 2kpbs...
not to mention, timing out on websites even...

aye, someone informed me of that soon after ...... all is well except for the news server, which is basically dead since today only.

Hi Alias

I just checked in with MWEB Guy and I think you may have misinterpreted that conversation. You asked if *you* were being shaped and MWEB Guy interpreted your question as being if you were being throttled which is of course not the case as we never throttle individuals.

NNTP news including our own news server is most definitely shaped though and always has been. I understand that there are quite a few people at the moment saying that they are unhappy with the MWEB news server performance, particularly in Cape Town. I am looking into this for you, but it would really help me if those of you who are having these problems could provide me with some really solid data. I'm not interested in what you're downloading, but if you could give me some proper indications of your line speeds, physical location and the throughput you are currently able to achieve at different times of the day. I'd also like to know how you are connecting to the server (ip, or dns name and if you are using any non standard DNS addresses)

here I go. My news server is news.mweb.co.za and also tried the ip of 196.28.78.229 and 168.209.98.66 nothing seems to work. I can't even ping it so can you please look into this for me.

4mb
Durban
10-15 kbps max .... since this morning
tried dns name and IP
Using no non-standard dns addresses

Hi Nelis the 168 address is not one of servers, I think some of you may have picked this up from using non standard DNS assignments, which could be perpetuating old DNS views that exist from before our IPC network was established.

Guys I really can't stress this enough:

I know there are a lot of techies on this forum who like to use all sorts of interesting DNS settings. If you don't use the DNS addresses that we assign to you automatically you are really asking for strange things to happen :)
