Things wouldnt be so bad if Mweb were transparent with this aggressive dynamic shaping. If they explained to us how it worked, when it was enforced and what we can expect from the service, majority of the people here wouldnt feel as cheated. The reason there is 820 pages now is because we feel cheated. You cant give someone a Ferrari for a year and then decide to take it away from them and give them a VW Beetle and expect them not to ask the question why you changed the cars. Knowledge is power Mweb. Let us know what is going on so we can make informed decisions if we would still like to be customers or not. None of this underhand aggressive shaping with no warning or information, let us know who/what/where/how and why!

+1

why hasnt MyBB ,Mr Rudolph Muller, made an article about this yet? or they getting some of the pie in the background?
surely the 820 pages, over 1800 posts in just May2011 would indicate there is an issue, and not just a boom of telkom individual line faults all over the country?
Mweb, just play open cards, with YOUR clients, then a lot of these post counts will be lower.

I had to refer a client to this thread over the weekend, they wanted to roll out 30+ branches later this year with Mweb, (because I told them Mweb would be the way to go if they want better redundancy when Seacom goes down etc.) but after reading this thread they will have to reconsider...

words like "Expectations" etc keep flying around,
but is it wrong for a paying customer to expect his 4mb account to occasional actually show a throughput of 400KB/s , and not just be happy with 50KB/s (this is on legit, non p2p stuff)
C'mon mweb, don't dissapoint us :(
"Free the web"

*update
My speeds are fine, but a lot of people still seem to be having issues with http etc.
from the youtube speedtest ISP graph, we can clearly see mweb did fix some stuff there :P

dudes stop raging here. My internet is working fine and I'm on MWEB normal shaped uncapped. My http, torrents, newsserver speeds are normal. I'm sorry I don't care what anyone says to me but I stand by MWEB that there is no issues what soever on their side. I'm getting 400+KB/s on torrents, newsserver, http and FTP downloads.

you are lucky..

I only have that golden period (1am to 8am) at full speed, the rest is 80kb international.. my local is fine...

And news server access via astraweb,, cant connect during the day only in golden period..

most of my line usage this month is in that golden period..

Mweb when are we gonna go back to normal...

What area?

Pretoria.

Dudes this is the last time I'm helping out cause you ppl won't listen. Get this software called untnagle www.untangle.co.za.

all you need to do is set your router in pppoe bypass mode and then put in the details on the untangle server. let me tell you wat you need.

1. 1x dedicated pc with 2x lan ports. just get a extra PCI lan card for like R100.

2. Untangle firewall of course. download it from www.untangle.co.za

for minimum specs please go to http://www.untangle.com/Products/Build-Your-Own-Untangle-Server and like you see you don't even need a modern day high end pc.

how to install

1. take a lan cable from the pc to router and another one from pc to switch.

1. Take the cd put it in cd drive

2. make your cd drive the default boot device

3. follow the instructions on screen.

TIP: you might have to switch cables from lan cards. depends how it detects your lan cards. also put in the Telkom guest account and it is username: guest@telkomadsl password: guest in the router and the mweb one in the untangle firewall.

if anyone needs any help regarding untangle firewall please pm me.

or fork out a couple of grand on a cisco router and expect your isp to work (and by fork out a couple grand, i mean "lend one from work for an extended period of time")

Luckily I do not have the same issues as most guys have with MWEB.
But!

I do read the forums and I do notice the amount of unhappy MWEB customers are climbing rapidly.

I am not just disappointed in MWEB, but also IN MYBB.

Come one MWEB do something about these complaints - don't just try and look at individual accounts. This is problems which is effecting the majority of MWEB users.
Yes things take time to fix, but you time is running out fast.

Take ownership of these issues MWEB!

If MWEB does not turn these problems around, I would expect MYBB to do something about it. Isn't that why MYBB was create to look after South African broadband users from being ripped off?

Why the hell would we do all of that, when we could instead be INFORMED by mweb and get O.K (notice i want OK service, i'm far past expecting good) service without retarded 3rd party firewalls?
Don't get me wrong i appreciate you trying to help and i'm sure some people find it useful but for me that sounds utterly mad to compensate for MWEB's very aggressive shaping with other unneeded stuff.
In the mean time mweb ignores us, claiming hundreds of individual telkom faults, and we have a 4mb line with the performance of a fair-usage-raped 384.
Congratz mweb, you made us pay for the ferrari and now we got the beetle.

I think we should all pm RPM on this. Maybe then he'll do something.

well working for me so be with it. Useless comment. trying to help out each other. might not be the isp at all. if you lucky and have a spare pc at home just install that and test. The good thing about untangle is the advanced security and it's easy to use. and BTW I'm using a simple D-link router

Or you could pay an ISP for a service, and it could work.

Imagine that nelis?

vaalpens Don't think you going to get much difference with an article, all that will happen is Mweb will pull a PR stunt, quote Will stating that have new testing methods, say majority of their customers are not affiliated with Mbb, Mweb really don't seem to know what's wrong.
I'm happy with my 384k account for the last two weeks in fact noticed an improvement in torrents not that I use them often. But its mostly 4 Meg users complaining.

thats properly true,,

but honestly.. I dont think mweb know what the problem is. My call has now been logged for about a week now. I get my daily sms telling me that they are investigating.

thats why there is such a silence,, Well week 3 of this sloww period starts today.

still waiting for mweb to contact me regarding my cancellation request. been like 12 hours now.

no one escapes the ballpit, i guess.
