MWEB upgrades ADSL network; increases capacity

See, that's what you do when something goes wrong.
You fix it, and put something in place to better it at the same time.

Thus far Mweb is seriously owning with this Uncapped :) Couldn't be happier really!
 
Definitely noticed an increase in speeds during business hours. Well done mweb!
 
My connection is pretty shoddy today. This site is struggling to load while facebook flies... Guess they helping out the masses again ;) Oh and I know it is shaped and all but my well seeded South Park torrent is shaped to non-existence (1-2kbps). Let's hope these upgrades help...
 
So, the MWeb network uses Seacom and SAT-3.
I am keen to see how the good old Telkom SAIX connection performs tonight, I am tired of 2000ms latencies.
 
I feel like a typical South African that just got conned again for the millionth time.

I just got 386KB Shaped from axxess and when I did a speed test on their on website (which should be running on port 80 with highest priority) my line speed was only 131 KB.

How the hell can that be right? by the looks of it.. it seems more than just shaping but throttling as well. I'm definitely no noob when in comes to stuff like this.. but I would really just like someone to explain that.. and not just gave me a typical answer by saying its Shaped is not good enough.. what happend to the other remaining KB.

Another question. if I get a 512KB Shaped account does that mean I will get 131KB as well as my full line capacity is not being used at the moment?

At peak times..

Why would there be a difference between a 386KB Shaped account and a 4MB shaped account
 
Wow, Go Mweb. More Seacom capacity, upgrade to SDH local with Telkom, AND Sat3 redundancy!
To all the ISP's who were waiting to see if this 'mweb uncapped' would be sustainable: better get your product offerings ready, as you can see mweb aren't joking around here ;)

Or maybe you got what you paid for - this was the sole reason I did not go for the UnLimited Cap offerings, it comes at a throttling speed price. :cry:

Should have not tried to save money and not have paperwork. Instead signed up throuh openweb who apparantly re-sells MWEB...this is not the case they are running on IS backbone.

I am trying to get this cancelled and if I win I will sign up with MWEB either in next week or @ the end of the month. I agree they are definitely more prepared than AfriToast and the others on the unc(R)apped bandwagon.

This looks good for MWEB, think I might pay the extra amount and have good service.

You should get a max of 48KB on a 384 line
