So my delivery is here, and I've already mounted it, will test it this afternoon on my home
Not sure why you say it can't be turned for landscape viewing.

I was going to take Voortrekker Road from Bellville to Blue Downs to get use to the clutch... But got onto the N1 and R300 instead.
First time on the freeway. My previous scooter could only do about 80km/h.

Approaching a robot I'm in 3rd. Robot goes from red to green while I'm shifting down to first. I stall and take 3 tries to pull away... Eish.
I assume like a car I shouldn't shift down to 1st, stay in 2nd while rolling and pull away?
Need to practice more.
Edit: I've been on a scooter for 18 months with my learners. I've done a Beginners course with Billy de Beer. Planning to do my licence in Jan/Feb.

Na, you can shift down to 1st from 2nd while moving, learn to blip a little on the downshift, makes the shifts a little smoother and sounds bad a$$

You can stay in 2nd, or shift down to 1st. Often times depending on speed and the how much torque you have low down, it's probably better to shift down- most bikes like to rev and only make power higher up in the rpm band. As SirFooK'nG said, just learn to blip the throttle on the downshift.

I'd like to see that happen... In all fairness, on these smaller bikes, 1st gear is just a launch gear. You could pull off in 2nd, so usually just coast with clutch in, and just before you drop your feet, pop into first and then stop. If the lights change, feather the clutch with some throttle and away you go...
