So I got me some ear plugs this weekend, and just like when I got my boots and gloves, it's like I'm just a spectator and not really riding the bike. Feels like I'm doing an injustice to motorcycling, but I know it's for long term safety...

I went to Full Throttle to look at headlight covers, want to get an orange one to be more visible. They didn't have stock, will find out about colours and stock at warehouse and phone me back today.
For me, when I get to work, by brain and body is functioning fully, because of the concentration on the bike. With a car, I need a few hours to we up cause you just sit there and do nothing. It's also the fun factor, making going to work fun...

You'll get used to it and find it actually improves your riding.
How any of it makes you feel like a spectator is beyond me though, all those things will improve your control and riding.
I started riding with limited gear, any old shoes I had, and gloves that where too big. So I got used to the feeling of the bike like that. Now with proper gear, being new and stiff, it was a bit numb in feeling compared to what I was used to. Now though, it's the best thing as they've been worked in a bit...
Think of it this way, you used to using surgical gloves when making food, for example. Now you start using garden gloves.... Bad comparison, but you get the idea....

Except that bikes were designed for gloves and boots also improve shifting etc so it should always be better.
The ear plugs do numb things at first but you'll soon realise you actually hear the engine itself now and much less other *** so you concentrate better.
But I can understand that it takes some adjustment. I've never ridden without gear short of 100m down the road maybe and that freaks me out and hurts my hands.

I'm the opposite, I feel weird when riding with less gear, especially gloves.

Not even the best gear in the world will make you enjoy a ride on a 350 Jawa, your rear end and hands will be numb after a few kilometers. There must be something one can do to minimise the vibrations on these bikes...

I always thought coloured headlights were illegal, or is it just specific colours?

Lights of the same class facing the same direction must be the same colour. Forward facing lights are allowed to be white, amber or yellow.

Had a similar experience on a Sym scooter.
Ultimately the problem is riding too fast for its abilities in my case.

So does anybody have one of these light covers? Full Throttle phoned me. R800 for the cover.
Now my question is, how does it get fitted to the bike. I've tried to have a look but can't really see if it would clip on, screw on, stick on, or whatever.... anyone?

Velcro - Get the industrial kind if you are paranoid. Normal is fine though since the wind will forever be pushing it on.
If you are able to find a perpex supplier that does transparent orange, hey presto you can get a light cover for R50. I struggled though to source it in CT and someone just bought it for my birthday so ya
