Nah, already had one.

The dealership experience and reliability would need to improve drastically to win me back over.

Same issue we had with the Triump service agent in the area. BMW actually wants to sell and service your bike where all the other companies you feel you that you are annoying them when walking into the store.

Yeah also felt this at a number of dealerships (feel like I'm annoying them).

I agree on BMW and add KTM to the list of awesome dealerships. I've now bought 3 KTMs from 3 different KTM dealerships. All really good experiences.

The 2 times I went to a certain Honda dealership (service my bike / change tires), i had a really bad experience.

Do you guys also have your family/friends/work colleges constantly making you feel guilty about riding a bike?

I'm going to get one this year. Waiting to pay my car off in March, then bike lessons (rather smash a rent-a-bike up learning to ride than my own), then my first bike. My dad is aware of my intentions and won't stop telling me about bike accidents he has seen or read about and keeps on telling me to check these off-road bikes out because they are safer.

I understand his concerns and those of others, but hell, what is the point of going through life avoiding things just in case something bad happens?

KTM in Jo'burg I'm guessing.

Because KTM Cape Town is by far the worst bike dealership I've ever been in.

I agree the ass wipe does not know the meaning of keep left pass right .
He was looking for shyt .
Yip agreed, watched it a few times and he could have pulled over plenty of times but he thinks he is a hero instead he's an @sshole. If the bus could go left.........
He's going to get bliximed good and proper.

The ex bus driver is no better as well and he should lose any license he has.

If you're traveling along a road you know has a camera that captures from the front and since bikes don't have a license plate on the front, do you still slow down or keep your speed? :D

hypothetically speaking.... ;)

Interesting read:

...

Where we crash

Intersections. No surprise there. VTTI created a system to calculate how much a certain scenario or riding behavior increased the odds of a crash or near-crash. An uncontrolled intersection presents nearly 41 times the risk of no intersection. A parking lot or driveway intersection is more than eight times as risky and an intersection with a signal is almost three times as risky.

A downhill grade increased the risk by a factor of four while an uphill grade doubled it. Riders were nine times as likely to crash or have a near-crash incident on gravel or dirt roads than on paved roads. And riders were twice as likely to have an incident in a righthand turn than on a straight section of road (crossing the center line is considered a near-crash scenario, even if nothing else bad happens).

...

The study found that aggressive riding increased risk by a factor of 18 while inattention or lack of skill increased it by a factor of nine. Combine the two, and odds of an incident increased by 30.

...maneuvering to avoid an object, whether a pedestrian, an animal or something lying in the road, increases the risk factor by 12.

I slow down.

Why? Because with enough pictures of bikes they didn't trap they'll start installing rear facing cameras instead.

No need to be a purposely lawless idiot.

Interesting. Yesterday leaving work, I pull away from the robot, and before I get to the next some idiot turns right in front of me. I can see him looking at me, but he just keeps going.

I didn't try to avoid him, but just slammed on the breaks. Couldn't even hoot at the fukker :D

And that's how I normally do it. If I'm able to slow down enough to regain control after releasing the breaks, I'll go round the back of them.

Oh, and ABS confirmed as working :D

Actually similar this morning coming in to work. Coming down a hill, going faster than I really should, robot turns red, fanie slams on breaks, ABS does its thing, I stop nice and tidy behind the line. Winning.

/inb4 SouRoNeZA tells me I'm irresponsible

To those with ABS: how effective is it on wet road markings?
