No Data connection but full signal

In Illovo, not so good, but at least it is working :

On weekdays it is usually very poor.

I am now completely done with Cell C. Their technical support is a joke and my "high speed internet" managed to download a total of 90MB yesterday in 9 hours.

I am going to the store tomorrow for a full refund. If they argue, I will shout and make a scene. It seems that is the only thing they understand. What a bunch of useless muppets! Even the guys in the store know nothing about the network issues and act all surprised when you mention that there are hundreds of pages here on mybroadband complaining of the exact same issue I am having.

Come of guys, playing dumb and pretending you don't understand may have fooled the teacher when you were 7, but this is simply not acceptable.

Good day,

This has been one of the longest weeks for our team as we continuously push for all the network issues raised here to be resolved by our network team. We apologize for the delayed feedback regarding calls logged but we reassure you that we doing everything we can to ensure that our network team attend to every query we have logged with them.

I have always been a fan of Cell C data speeds and reliability vs the rest. As I am working in the IT industry, I fully accept and acknowledge that failures do occur. Sometimes these can be very problematic to solve!! I do have sympathy with you.

I do however suggest that you communicate a bit more. Why did it happen, what is being done. People will only be "happy" if your communications are believable. Not just sounding like lame excuses. You need to be believable and people might have more sympathy!

I just got a iPhone 5 on a Cell C contract and get full 3G signal, but hardly any throughput. I did get for about 30min this morning and it was running at 8Meg/s. Then it just dropped again. While it gets full 3G signal with no throughput, it KILLS the battery life as it constantly try to download. It seems like it does not "downgrade" to Edge as it do get a full 3G signal. It will only "downgrade" when it does not get a 3G signal.

I have now disabled the 3G in settings and running on Edge. Everything is working, although very, very, very slow. Not what I want or expect from Cell C.

I am willing to operate like this until the issue is resolved, subject to:
You informing us when the issue is fully resolved as I need to know when to enable 3G again.
or you have a method where it "downgrade" when no throughput is happening.
It is resolved within the next couple of days.

A simple question - is this not caused by your technicians performing changes to enable LTE???

In my case this problem has been around for over a year, before LTE !

Maybe you need to handle it as two different issue. The one issue is where network problems exist, which worked perfectly before. The other issue is where you have historic poor data, which is a total different forum.

As per above, I get almost zero Vodacom signal at home. This is not a network issue. It is related to availability.

Tell us why this happened, why its going on and what you are doing to fix it. We dont want excuses

I live in Phoenix, North of Durban. Its been 3 frustrating weeks for me. This morning from 5am to 9am, there was virtually no internet connection. I agree with you, we've had enough of lame excuses. Cell C needs to be more transparent.

Well it's now 1745 and I still get f all throughput on cell c h+ in sandton cbd. Even edge is near useless although during the day edge sort of works (very slowly ).

Why not challenge the Cell C rep to share this tread (and complaints in Hello Peter) with Alan Knott-Graig and see what happen. Maybe it is even time that he steps down and reply to his customers!

Unfortunately not resolved in the Roodepoort areas either. Harveston, Wilgeheuwel, Radiokop.

another day , same sh*t , a verbal agreement was entered into yesterday with the technical department , nothing has materialized,
i regret porting from MTN , they were far from perfect , but much better than CELLC

It seems that by selling large amounts of data with aggressive pricing and marketing, AKC has bitten off more than he can chew.
My guess is that Cell C were overwhelmed by the response - Customers overtook network roll out.
It will be a pleasure to use the service if they can get their ducks in a row!

It seem to be getting to voice calls too now.... No matter what numbers I phone lately Ive been getting that cellc man's voice saying "Your call could not be connected at this time please try again later."

Its not voicemail cause a couple of tried and it calls.... Am I the only one?

Following up on my last post and after 4 weeks of frustration, would just like to report that my data flow is pretty stable tonight so far, no timeouts and things seem to be good again. May be too soon to get happy, hope it lasts.

Anyone else noticing a difference.

You are definitely not the only one. This happens to me around 40% of my phone calls too
