No Data connection but full signal

Its been intermittant the whole day today. It was working fine last week Friday - Joburg CBD, Simmonds Street

boom!

i have the same issue. i work at std bank in town.

i am also experiencing issues in the magaliessig area (less than 100m from monte casino!!)

its very clearly an issue in almost all areas.

Thanks to the power outage in Alberton that lasted for 6 days I was forced to use my cell phone with its cell c connection.

it is incredibly poor and frustrating. The network is clearly congested.

Been trying in vain to cancel my contract within 7 days for just this issue. Their response : "Our coverage map shows that you have signal, we need to investigate". They now are in possession of 1) my sim 2) my phone 3) my debit order details. They continue to debit me even though I dont even have service. NCC seems very interested in my case, so holding thumbs!

CellC, I sent you a pm this morning if you can please reply to it. I'm not always sure if you get our private messages.

It is time that us CellC users demand compensation and an apology.

HI, if im reading your post correctly, you state that you having data problems but you have a gsm signal? generally this would be the problem, with a gsm signal it would be impossible to get data out, u need EGDE, GPRS, 3G, HSDPA or LTE

No...the people here mean that the phone says E / 3G and cant get a drop of data out of a tower anywhere. Full signal refers to the calls dropping even though the phone shows 90% signal.

Hi,

We are taking this matter very seriously and we are in continuous talks with our network team regarding this issue, at this stage we are attending to the challenge by logging individual calls as the broader challenge was resolved as confirmed by our network team but we have highlighted to our network team that many of our clients on this forum are still experiencing the problem.

I was at one of your stores on Sunday and a lady was explaining this problem to a staff member. The answer she was given is that it's her problem (you were on the phone OR you were in a bad signal area OR you should ask them to phone again). Put these sorts of things on your website so that new and existing customers don't have to guess. Be transparent and be customer centric. Right now I'm fighting with CellC's Chief Legal Officer over a network that doesn't work and a refund and reversal of a new contract. Had I known the extent of the problems I would never have ported. But thanks for the acknowledgement, this will aid me in my dispute.

@CELLC It is very clear that nothing has been resolved. The problem is only getting worse.

I'm wondering if a technician can maybe come to my house in the evening and experience it for himself. I'll give him a cup of coffee and show him how bad it is.

I'm desperate. It's a real offer. Please Cell C, I'd love to have one of your network team members come over and have a look.

Why not just cancel and move? They will only bill you for the handset cost (afaik)

Unfortunately it doesn't work like that for me. I bought a Giga 200 sim about a month and a half ago which was on special for R1600. Basically it's money that I paid for nothing. It works during the day so my wife can use it at home but when I get back from work it will work for an hour or so until the peak traffic hits and then it's unusable.

I used to game online using 8ta bandwidth but of course I can't do that anymore since I'm not even able to browse.

What I'm doing now is paying for 8ta bandwidth on top of the Cell C bandwidth which is really silly.

Oh I see. Yeah, I feel your pain man - CellC is not exactly the most friendly towards its customers and their concerns. Cut your losses and move, that's what I am doing...and throw in an NCC complaint while you are at it. South Africans put up with bad service and I don't know why. R.I.P Isabel Jones.

I feel its time we got the radio stations and news sites on board , this problem has been ongoing for weeks on end.
