No Data connection but full signal

Don't know if this problem is starting again.
The last two nights me and my wife was unable to use our data.
Blackberry and Samsung.
It again works fine during the day but at night it's dead?
Anyone else??

Dont know about the others, but my situation has not improved at all. My internet connection has been crappy for the last 12 weeks. I'm posting this on gsm mode. Its slow as a snail.

My data connection has improved drastically. Sometimes it connects but no throughput but when I restart the laptop it works again.

Hi galaxy s2, Please PM me more detail, with your physical address, The network team will investigate. *DM*

Just done that. Thank you. Much appreciated.

Had the CellC team come over to my house and the strange thing is one of the techies was hitting ~3Mbps on speedtest to the Cellc JHB server while I was doing ~0.35Mbps(Him on HTC Wildfire and me on HTC Sensation). I suggested we do a sim swap on our phones and guess what? His sim on my phone was hitting ~5Mbps while mine was constantly below 1Mbps on his phone.

While this was happening the other techie was on his laptop and constantly murmuring that he could not get a GPS lock on the tower(or something like that) and the tower being only 500 metres away from my house.:wtf:

Needless to say they did all funny strange things:) on their laptop(and as a matter of fact the laptop guy was hitting below ~0.45Mbps all the time) logged fault and left.

I ask,3 CellC sim cards, 2 constantly @ ~0.45Mbps and 1 constantly hitting over 2Mbps,same location, what could be the problem?

This morning...

Someone else reporting a similar problem:
I'm having a bit of a dilemma, I have two sim cards with both data loaded and when I connect to the internet the other one is faster then the other one. So what can cause this problem?

Problem is their core network - only some SIM's affected

It's not tower congestion! Proven by same location but one SIM fast and the other slow. That means it must be nodes on their core network and those sims which are connected to those nodes are affected.

Some of the problems are definitely congestion, others seem to be on the backend, see here:

The big problem with this thread is that "no data connection but full signal" is a very vague description and can be caused by congestion, having no airtime, third-party software, airtime window expiry, DNS failure, random backend issues, etc., etc.

Oooook, now time for the noob question of the week:

Can a new sim help? As in, can this new sim be isolated from the affected node,if the affected node can be identified at all...???

Also posted this under the Speed Test results. I have strong signal, but almost no data throughput. Takes around 5+ retries to download 70kb files on whatsapp, load web pages and send/receive mails.

I actually roam on Vodacom EDGE, just so that i can get some data. I REALLY regret taking on this CellC contract. Every single day i battle with my connection. I have zero signal in my office, while Vodacom phones enjoy full signal (with data throughput).

When I asked the bloke in store why CellC's prices are so good, he should have told me its because i'll enjoy poor coverage, almost no data throughput and horrible customer support

Could these not be interlinked? i.e. The Huawei or whatever equipment currently in place can not handle the growth of the user numbers and their capacity needs to be upgraded?
What is the reason for this assessment? It has ben shown in some cases that network capacity was not a reason.

I actually think it is linked to the number. But this is my opinion and not backed up by any facts.....

EDIT: I just realised I sim swapped one of the 2 data lines I have a month ago and problem continued after sim swap

Could
underlying problem on our IT platform
not refer to the capacity of certain towers (equipment in those towers/connection to those towers)?

And the problem persists, now the phone falls off the network (data wise) and never comes back until I reset or re-activate mobile network
