I signed up today for a CW capped account. So far I'm pretty underwhelmed. When I play World of Tanks I ping 300ms+, but when I use my WA account I get 200-220ms. Regular HTTP downloads also seem to be quite slower, and torrents are a no go. General experience so far is not very confidence inspiring.

"Monday 23 January we begin deployment..." So another month of 'maybe this time the problems will be fixed'. People are reporting good performance on the new network, but for how long? The CW network also ran like a dream when I first signed up, anybody remember that? I'm currently paying for a service that I'm every so often able to use. This has got to end, 1000-7000ms ping in Star Trek Online, game updates coming in at 30KB/s. I don't think it's too much to ask to be able to use my internet the way it's meant to be...

Just tested Steam. Can hardly get anything to download on both the Cape Town and Cape Town (Webafrica) servers. Is there a recommended server to use with CW or is there just an issue currently?

Its the Cybersmart backbone, there are known issues.

How are their capped accounts? Are they on the new or old backbone?

Lately the capped account has been performing well with nntp downloads. Getting line speed most of the time and streaming from youtube is usually fine on HD. Gaming is not doing so well on the capped and I can't speak for torrents though as I do not use them.

Trialing the new system currently and getting 200ms pings to guild wars 2 europe servers, so hopefully it stays like that and gives the same for world of tanks :D
New network definitely is very snappy so far and none of the strange single download issues.

New network is looking very good so far. Pingtest from PTA to CPT 28ms with 1ms jitter and no packet loss :)

Edit: And 3.4Mbps download from testmy.net London

Although on the OLD backbone [100GB promo] , performance was sweet over this Sunday which is when we used it most.

Streamed the cricket via Supersport and after a few minutes it didn't even change quality regularly [this a common issue with their infrastructure, lazy sods]. No buffering apart from 2 or 3 times :) using a 12Mbps line. Just to add, downloading from a server in Germany was at a constant 1300KB/s +- whereas few days ago, it wasn't so good. ;)

I also read performance is better on weekends so lets see how it plays the rest of the week.

Once again thanks for the free data. As soon as confirmation of the NEW dual network is available to new signups, i will be jumping ship :).

So, I just spoke with General Support and I'm obviously not going to be getting on to this new backbone if I sign up today and ask nicely. The chat also ended abruptly, so it was pretty clear that if I sign up today, I'm still going to be put onto the Cybersmart backbone.

Looks like I'm not moving to CW for the next few months.

Edit: So they had a power failure and that's why the chat ended.
