There's home and business.
Under the home category, There is Home Uncapped Basic, Home Uncapped Premium and Home Capped.
I am currently on Home Uncapped Premium, And am smacking torrents at the moment at between 23 - 25mbps.
So, Your statement is quite incorrect about home accounts just being used for browsing.
Yup, just needed to buffer a stream on popcorn time (uses torrents which is subject to shaping during peak network load time)So ummm...don't you got a 40mb line? And you are doing just over half that speed?
So after having read all these great reviews on mybroadband, it seemed like an easy choice for me to move over to Crystalwebs uncapped home account.. Little did i know what i was getting myself into..
I wasn't the happiest that i had to limit my downloads to 6hour time frames starting from midnight.. but figured if it was unshaped and uncapped and unlimited as crystalweb claims.. I should have been able to do about 8gig a night on a 4mb account, which would be sufficient to get through the few downloads i do a month..
To my complete shock.. I have realised i only get a few 100meg up to 2gig done a night if im lucky.. which means my downloads average between 20-100kb/s during this off-peak download period... as we speak, im getting a lovely 15kb/s on 7 different torrents each who have thousands of seeders.
Fair enough shape me during business hours.. I understand if i download at those sort of speeds, but for heavens sake at 12:00am at night you telling me its normal to get 10-15-20kb/s???
Have emailed crystalweb a good couple of times over the last 2 weeks, but no one has bothered to reply or look at this problem.. It's simply been swept under the table like my query did not exist..
I managed to speak to the "online chat" support personnel this week who have promised to look into my problem and get back to me.. but excuse after excuse.. no1 bothers to come with a solution or mail me back.. It's like i need to run after them.. and i'm ignored anyways
Well anyways.. Just thought i'd share my shocking experience... I did not want to resort to this as i was more than happy to give crystalweb a chance to proove themselves.. unfortunately they have failed horribly, and before more people get sucked into this isp, i just thought i'd put the truth out there..
Look after your clients, if you want them to look after you.. Don't bull **** and make empty promises.
More and more of this seems to be popping up. Is there some kind of ipc capacity issue when everyone logs on to download at 12am? Probably.
What irks me is that according to the website it's supposed to be "opened up" at 12am as per the product description. That's cw managing the traffic right?
Even if it's a is product you can do what you want between 12 and 6 it makes zero difference to your star rating.
Either way, sounds like you have been screwed over and while I'm sure they also supply good products, I'm sure they are regretting being active on these forums.
Especially after the recents comments and threads created...
Sometimes it goes full speed, but the experience is getting worse and worse.
All ISPs are facing the same issue, I have latency monitoring set up with all isps and can see when the network gets busy and congested, Webafrica, Afrihost, axxess, crystal web, cybersmart, openweb are all showing congestion during peak times on their networks, generally by the graphs between 6pm to 10pm is peak time.I also think it is a bit stupid to be shaped so heavily in the "after hours" midnight to 6 AM. It doesn't help if I schedule my downloads and only 10 or 20 GB gets downloaded.

I think, all ISPs are waiting for telkom to allocate the additional IPC that is being given to them sometime this month.
I believe any ISP would give their customers full use of their entire IPC capacity, the problem is that they're stuck between a rock and a hard place, any day now Telkom is going to start dishing out IPC allocation. Another ISP has been playing delay tactics for months on end now till Telkom allocates additional IPC for free to them. And then when? Sit on it all without dishing it back to your customers? Coz it needs to be dished out and then you back at square one... ?
Look I hear what you saying so really playing devils advocate here but I don't think we can put the ball into telkoms court.

Getting full speed on torrents right now. Home premium uncapped
I'm on 4mbps uncapped premium and I hardly ever get shaped. I schedule my downloads, 80% torrents, for 00:00 till 07:00 but on the occasion that I needed a torrent or any download immediately it almost always comes down at line speed.Hi there
I have joined this family on 15th May. I went capped 200 gig. Will I see the same download speeds if I go uncapped?
I have a 10meg line, and like to quickly download anything before 23:59 at night, like a movie or mp3's.
I must still get used to the after hours thing, but would like to know if it is worth it to go uncapped??
Thanx
Chris
