Getting some slow loading and awful international ping at the moment ... other accounts are acting normal/lower. Anything up?

@Paul Hjul

Any possibility you have managed to do anything regarding the PM I sent you on Tuesday.

Most definitely not correct - We have upgraded our network since winning the ISP survey however most ISPs are waiting for the IPC upgrades from Telkom which were supposed to be done earlier this month.

We have also further upgraded Durban and JHB IPC a short while ago. CT does not have any spare capacity till the Telkom Upgrades come in unfortunately.

well im still in the market for and isp but will give the trial a go (also in cpt)

Streaming intro's and trailers from the Steam Client has been really useless lately. What gives?

Streaming again limited on YouTube...

230kB odd.

Come 17:00 it will go back to full speed again.

Home capped.

Has there been any progress on this issue?

Thought so, There is currently no spare capacity available for order from our Backbone Provider - They are waiting on Telkom for the upgrades to take place in CPT
Thank you :D
This is annoying, but I am very glad that it has been identified and, more importantly, clearly stated here without trying to obfuscate the problem.

I can assume you will keep us posted on when the IPC is delivered?

Keep this level of clear honesty please!

Of course! There is no need to tell Fairy Tales for months on end...

We were expecting the upgrades to take place earlier this month, However there seems to have been a delay on Telkom's side.

We had forecast enough capacity till the upgrades were supposed to take place (Earlier this month) but because they have been delayed we are running a bit on the high side until the upgrades do take place (We are hoping within the next week or so)

Upgrades in Cape Town ?!?? as I start salivating at the concept  .... ps while you are interacting with Telkom, please tell them to run an undersea cable from Robben Island to Big Bay, so we can also get 100MB home internet here in Big Bay ....

The Idea of Telkom installing FTTH on Robin Island...

just a brief update on the IPC situation:

We've got capacity through three points over the IS network - Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban. The usage in Johannesburg is pretty close to being well balanced and there is going to be an increase in the amount provisioned quite soon (we actually just need to confirm numbers and are good to go). Durban is a little underutilized but will get an upgrade for resilience (if you have a grandmother in kZN [would it be politically incorrect to call on all kZN gogos ?] please get her onto ADSL). Cape Town however is a problem, not outright crisis yet but we cannot just run some numbers and ask for more capacity (no "here take our money" option I am afraid) and of course because the bottleneck isn't with CW it isn't just CW, so a migration of some customers onto a different pipe isn't really the way to go. Also Cape Town isn't running optimally 24/7 and usage could be a bit better balanced and there is additional hardware involved.
Things also become a little tricky in making a call like suspending new signups on CT firstly because its difficult to monitor where a signup will definitely route through but secondly because getting the network better balanced is important.

Now the effects of the strain are also a little unpredictable because of the nature of the log jam. The current ETA is two weeks to full resolution but as everybody knows Murphy spends a considerable amount of time in the IT sector.

A good solution would be for some Republic of the Western Cape netizens to grab their passports and go on holiday to kZN (although visiting the Eastern Cape won't help) but make sure you are vaccinated before the trip.

Oh dear, just as I'm set to join CW again. Should I wait a month so as not to have a negative experience?

Why is the South always having IPC issues?
