Did I mention morons? No. And it is R10 per referral. Which means the more people signing up with your referral code the cheaper your CW package becomes, and so the more incentive there is to recommend CW and the more incentive there is to spam "what ISP should I use" type threads on this forum.

The problem I have with it, is that brings into question the objectivity of ISP advice. I had a similar objection a few years ago when a certain number of MyBB members got very cheap accounts from WebAfrica and became WebAfrica fanbois as a result. To put it crudely, WebAfrica bought off a bunch of vocal MyBB forumites. The problem for people looking for objective advice on their choice of ISP is that these WebAfrica accounts were just a promotion to MyBB members of long standing and not available to new sign ups.

So if it is just R10 then why even bother? Put it back into the product and let the product speak for itself.

Well I don't mind the odd R10 discount here and there, and I would go insane referring this ISP without any incentive. I understand your point though, but it does not mean we have to make it a two pager discussion on this thread. :) Like CW said, clients were already referring them to friends and family left and right and they decided to reward us for this.

the referral code is hardly designed as an mechanism to get people to recommend our products and services on the basis of a discount but is rather a way of rewarding customers rather than spending the money on marketing. It is a single layer referral system - not a a multi-layer marketing routine and absolutely far from any pyramid or ponzi character at all.

Well, i am not saying there was anything questionable in your intentions. And I'm sure if users are recommending CW to friends, colleagues and family it works fine. But the outcome of it on this particular forum is tacky, with people putting their referral codes in their forum signatures, even telling people that they need to use their referral code to sign up.

Look, I pay quite a bit for this account.
I got no special rides or cheaper accounts.

So this WebAfrica scheme has nothing to do with this.
We recommend CW because of performance and CW has reciprocated by rewarding us with a small discount.
Has this meant I now spam my referral code, nope.
Not even for a second.

Just FYI: Signed up now but only realised once the signup was done (and speaking to support) that Credit Card payments aren't an option. Unfortunately don't have EFT or Debit Order facilities myself (company account) so had to cancel my account after... like... 5 minutes :(

They did say though that CC Payments are planned for very soon.

There is the occasional network glitch here and there like on all the other ISP networks. The longest I was without internet at any point was about 20 minutes trying to get into the router without power cycling it.

I am not on the perfect package yet, but glad I could be one of the early users to help shape the CW network. (I don't like the screamers that get priority from 5pm to 11:59pm, but it is not that a biggy.)

Everything was blown out of proportion by one numnut who was told to keep info to himself while CW is in "Beta testing" to feel what the requirement will be.

Use this code if you feel like it: 664e80c18f. Nobody is forcing you to use it anyway.

I went back 4 pages and only saw one guy with a referral code in his signature. And I can also say the people I spoke to here in the CW threads the past 3 months + were always honest, I don't believe anyone here would mislead a friend or family member if CW sucked.

To be honest... i have referred 3 people to CW and i don't even bother with my referral code. So ja.. for me at the moment the product speaks for itself.

I was with Wazzup isp in 2010 I think, when uncapped got cheaper. They were on Cybersmart. Back then had no issues on the Cybersmart network, the only reason I left wazzup ISP is because I used 150GB a month and that was to much for them for a uncapped account. The boss even phoned me and informed me that my account would only be active till the end of that month LOL.

Back on topic, please. And no personal attacks against people in here. If it continues we'll have to change our policy on off-topic discussions in this thread.

Play nice in here, please.

Not a fan of downloading during peak hours...but I haven't had internet for two weeks and have a lot of catching up to do...I still have most of my 100gigs unshaped left...
