hmmm should we really measure a broadband connection against nntp and torrents? Looking at the last 2 pages + that is all I see. A PM to CW or a chat to support (If not done before the MyBB post) would be more effective though. Just FYI CW, I did some tests from legal sources like steam, Amd, YouTube etc..., all seems to work fine.
I think it's legitimate to measure NNTP, Torrents and HTTP - but for me personally, those don't really matter. I'm almost exclusively (I would even say 99%) a streaming customer, with the occasional BF4 or WoW thrown in. So for me, it's going really well.

yeah I agree with you, especially if the service is offered by the ISP. I suppose I will understand some day when / if I start to download. A netflix / hulu screen and play button is just MUCH better. :)

Haha, absolutely. CW account on the router, and your laptop, tablet, PC and PS4/TV actually manage to stream Netflix in HD - where it couldn't with any other ISP before.
CW, you guys keep up the good work :)

(I should add that, even with a problem at my exchange, the CW account still outperforms other ISP's when it comes to Netflix)

I had somebody doing a 6GB steam download at full line speed yesterday. Happy to report I streamed video at the same time with no issues :)

That's exactly how I feel. I use Netflix and Hulu, but lately Hulu has not been behaving. It's bad enough having adverts, but adverts and buffering is not on. So about 10 days ago I started dabbling with NNTP.

NNTP still slow, only getting 300kb/s on 10m line. When will this get fixed? I understand you are having problems but it's not making a very good first impression. This is a capped account and was supposed to be completely unshaped.

Yeah, I'm not impressed either. Also went the capped route to avoid the nonsense uncapped users put up with in the SA telecoms market...

This is multiple download threads on a rapidgator premium account...

And the same downloads on Afrihost capped account....

And Afrihost capped still going strong...

Apologies sand_man

I'm going to get that resolved for you and for other capped customers with some slowish speeds on some protocols. Need to roll in a network update and I will let you know when we do this and it will be back to where it was last month.

Hey man, appreciated!! I have confidence you'll get to the bottom of this and resolve!

I told you when I signed up I have no issues with Afrihost, their performance for me has been outstanding on every level, from price, to performance, to their online clientzone!!

BUT, like many others on this forum, I jumped at the opportunity to support a pair of fellow forumites in their foray into the telecoms market and for the most part it has been a very pleasurable experience!

Unfortunately, having an amicable rapport with the co owners of my chosen ISP remains a distant 2nd on the list of priorities, with performance being 1st!

@Crystal Web

I just received an email from Crystal Web informing me that me that my payment is 7 days overdue. This is extremely disappointing considering that I notified CW 4 days before the end of last month that I no longer wanted an account, received confirmation of this from CW later the same day, and have since had nothing to do with CW.

Could you please ensure that the reply I just sent to [email protected] is received and acted upon. I sent it a few minutes ago. Thanks.

Support has been on the balls the past few days. Always friendly and professional and they give honest feedback. +1 to management for recruiting the right type of talent.

Can confirm that NNTP speeds are back to normal, however, now seeing major article loss using the crystalweb news server exclusively, i.e. articles not downloading completely.

If I use another provider, like xsusenet, I experience no missing articles or malformation.

Haven't experienced issues on any other protocols.

No problem. I've seen it now and read the history of the tickets, and sent a notice off to finance to void the invoice and to ensure that nothing else was processed by the technical team.

I was just about to ask about that. Since the 1st of November I have about a 90% failure rate. Before then I had a 90% success rate. On 31st October CW did some major maintenance to the news server.

just got my 20Mbs activated again, setup 2x Bolt-On accounts to my download box, Crystal Capped to tier 1, Vox Fatpipe to tier 2 and now streaming Twitch is butter smooth when downloading :D

Did a quick check on my download history; the failures started on 1 November and increased from every 3rd-4th odd nzb to nearly every NZB. Of the 7 NZB's i tried yesterday, 6 had problems with missing/malformed articles.

I had a 17gig nzb fail on me too. Does this happen using another paid host?
I'm considering going back to using my old paid news host. I can't keep throughing away Tier 1 data like this :(

On the plus side torrents are flying along very nicely :D

Anyone with NZB failures, please ensure that your client is not opening more than the concurrent connection limit in your logs and reduce if need be. And give it a retry.
