Official Motorola RAZR thread (Android version)

Sorry if this has been asked before, but where do you get the HD dock or lapdock for this bad boy in SA, for a reasonable price? To import the lapdock costs over R2000! Getting my RAZR soon and it would be great to convert it to a LPTP or DSKTP PC as well...

I think I saw it last night on www.expansys.co.za when I ordered my pouch.

Still don't have my phone, Vodashop screwed up something, now I have to wait for them to "investigate" while I use my personal phone to call people for work all the time..

I want my RAZR. The precious, we wants it!

Company phone. It's an old contract taken out for a guy who left, that was never cancelled. My company is trying to get the upgrade on it for me. Now the Vodashop says "someone" took an upgrade last year on it, (after the guy left), yet there is no order for it from our side, no upgrade charge was paid, and the girl (manager) at the shop also has no record of an order from our company.

But somehow, "someone" got a new ****ing phone out of the deal, the company pays the contract, and they (the Vodashop) can't tell me who it is or who authorised it....

Urg no man. That sucks. All upgrade docs are sent by shops to Vodacom to be digitally filed. If you like....PM me the number concerned and I will see if I can get the documents emailed to me and then we might be able to see who requested the upgrade and its legitimacy.

Anyone else considering rooting and installing stock ICS?

Phone rooted, but most ICS roms are still buggy, so I'll wait. Thing is, with the stock rom the phone is actually performing fine (for me anyway).

Yeah I agree, I still don't feel the need to root. Although for some reason, my phone starts getting a little warm in my pocket sometimes so I check to see internet connection / wifi / or even flashlight but nothing's on, nothing to justify the warmness? Maybe the phone is just that sexy?

Oh btw THIS is cool

I read about this hack a couple of days ago. I might be tempted when my phone is a bit older :p

I'm already tempted, upgrading your battery to 3300ma is almost blasphemous.

I also read about the hack a few days ago but I think this is more than just a hack. You're getting actual razr maxx parts so I think it's more of an upgrade than a hack

They actually selling a kit in USA, got this upgrade...costs like $100

And in China, apparently you can take send your phone back to Motorola for an upgrade (not sure how much yet), since the Razr is EOL and replaced with the maxx

Motorola RAZR gets Android 4.0.4 ICS update in Greece

According to Motorola's Ice Cream Sandwich software update schedule, the GSM version of the RAZR is bound to get the desired Android update package any moment now. But as it happens, one happy RAZR owner in Greece got the official ICS update earlier than everyone else.

It all happened when the RAZR owner in question had a problem with his device and brought it to Greek carrier Cellcom's customer care center. When he collected it, he got a notification, and his smartphone updated to Android 4.0.4.

When asked if Greece is about to get the over-the-air ICS update, both Motorola and Cellcome responded negatively. Perhaps the guys in the customer care center flashed some of their internal testing ROMs, by mistake. This would suggest that even though the update isn't official just yet, it's already undergoing testing and it should become available soon.

As seen from the screenshot on the left, the firmware version has been named "EMEA" (Europe, the Middle East and Africa) meaning plenty of RAZR owners should be receiving good news soon
Yay....think we almost there boys!!! :D

Nice. Now they just need to start selling the accessories in SA.
