Official Motorola RAZR thread (Android version)

Well, I could only get the home screen apk and the circles apk to install, the other 2 didn't want to install, when I remove and re-add the widget, it doesn't prompt me with anything

Edit: after some reading, I see you need to be rooted for the weather apk to install.

No no....you misunderstood. You need to install this app from the Playstore (it is free) and then add the widget to your homscreen.

System Updates states: "You can't check for updates at the current time. Try again later." - Please let me know if there is any reason I haven't received the update or alternate process that I should follow.

Cheers

Was your phone Vodacom supplied? If so...did you root and/or load a custom ROM?

Strange. I do know that the OEM's sometimes rolls it out in stages and use some kind of queuing system. Maybe ures is still coming.
Hopefully that is the case. I've patiently waited for a looong time and resisted the urge to root..

I don't think we on the same page, I want the Motorola Circles and I also want the weather to work.

This is a better link I think, reading it now, looks like I have to change file names and permissions etc.

Whats the battery life like is this a fixed release? I don't want the battery dead halfway through the day?

Were you connected to a wifi network?

Definitely a significant improvement in battery life on ICS.

Thanx Airwolf. I can't wait to get my phone from repair center!!

Just root the phone and use the one I linked to, doesn't that work?

Or are you one of those with a mysterious root allergy we see so often around here?

I've rooted but can't seem to get the weather to work

Edit: I've made sure buy using apps like titanium backup and SetCPU

Thinking of putting a different rom though, first need to flash a cm recovery so I can backup.

Mm, strange. Normally Titanium allows you to remove system apps. I wish there was an awesome toolkit for the RAZR like the one for the GSIII. That one can forcibly remove system apps.

A custom ROM that doesn't include the Motorola weather app should work, I guess it depends on how badly you want that weather ring...

Yeah I'm not too phased by it, what I'm noticing is my battery is lasting at least twice as much. It's on 50%, charged it yesterday morning and it's been through heavy use

How? It normally gives a "you need to be connected to a wifi network" error or the one you received.
I got that error a few times but after a while I was able to get the 2.3.6 OTA update without wifi. Currently I can't even get to the "you need to be connected to a wifi network" error...

Got it! Connected to wifi and pulled the sim. ICS is awesome!

Anyone flashed JB yet?

I've tried a few methods of installing one of the new crackflasher JB ROMS but it never boots, thank heavens for nandroid backups.

I've tried safestrap as well as BMM.

I'm a bit hesitant to flash it while safestrap mode is disabled though.

Vodacom ICS rollout

Anyone else receive the update? Mine notified me last night. Have not done the update yet though. After waiting 3 extra months, whats another 24 hours :(
