Onavo: A must-have app

Said not supported for my phone.
Not altogether unhappy since reading a few negative comments that put me off, anyway. Use wi-fi most of the time as it is.
 
So basically you giving this company access to all the data flowing to and from your device? Unless it is encrypted, but a lot of stuff are not. Nothing in life is free, i'm sure they are doing some data mining on everything that goes through their servers. Yes the data flows across the internet anyway, but the internet is big and harder to monitor data and find exactly where it is coming from, like a big ocean, your data is only a drop in the ocean, whereas sending data through a companies servers makes it a lot easier to monitor. Like sending your data down a little stream compared to a big ocean of data.

Yes it saves you money but costs you your privacy

Well if they get their rocks off seeing what I browse did on the net, or which Tapatalk forums I browse, or which pulse categories I monitor, etc... then they can go for it.
Where privacy matters, there is encryption.

I am not the paranoid type. Stopped the doobie long long ago :D

I got it working by changing my apn back to internot and did a speed test.... Wow it slows it down. Ping of 769ms
 
Cant get to work on my iPad. (8ta data)
 
How does this app affect battery life? Surely the CPU overhead required to decompress the data will have some effect?

That's what puts me off as well. That and the additional lag.

Read between the lines, that is careful wording there - they (claim they) don't store the "content" of the data - that means at a minimum they do store information such as, I'm guessing, every site you visit. No thanks, do not want. Stop trying to turn all our consumer electronics into big brother spying devices.

Its hardly surprising, they have to make money somehow. Presumably at some point they'll start injecting ads into webpages. If you're not the customer you're the product...
 
There are tons of website and apps looking at our private data every day. This is nothing new. Of course, it's always worth being careful.

I think their main objective is to sell their servers to the mobile operators as an alternative to RIM and a way of making non-RIM devices more competitive.
 
Most useless app ever. Can never get it working on my phone. Keeps saying profile not installed.
 
Had it running for two months. I have not reduced my monthly bill, although the app claims large bandwidth usage savings.

I'll be removing it at the end of the month to compare next month's use.
