OnePlus 13

So napkin maths tells me under R14.5k all-in you have a top level 2025 flagship?

A few k less than the new “budget” iPhone  o_O
FIrst off, I am so used to seeing your posts in the Cars section, that my first thoughts was "This is a strange name for a car..."

Secondly, I am still rocking my OnePlus 9 Pro, and so far no issues. But I am tempted...

You can buy from Nanozee on Carbonite, guy has a good track record. I purchased my oneplus 12 and K70 Ultra from him without issue.
For the sake of some local warranty.
His stock is not Global Rom, it has Color OS

Yes, thus the lower price. They flash global rom on their phones and they give a 3 month guarantee.
Just pointing out that the Chinese version with Global ROM can not get updates OTA for OxygenOS, and when you update it manually you lose all data on the phone. So you have to backup and restore everything every time.

Today's new update for OxygenOS has added some improvements for the camera. I'm busy updating it now. I've taken some before shots and will compare after the update.

To those who have the OP13 here in SA, if you don't mind sharing, where did you purchase from and what was your total spend?

Read the last few pages of the thread man.

That's incorrect.

The process to convert to oxygenOS seems a lot more convoluted than I remember it being on my OnePlus 7 pro.

Himmmmmm...

And apologies sensorei, I think you are correct in stating ota updates won't work.

For rooted devices there is an option to update without wiping data.

More here... It's a long thread. Seems many soft and hard bricked OP13s attempting the conversion.

I did, Nanozee and AliExpress is all I could find, both Chinese ColorOS versions with either google play services loaded or flashed is OxygenOS. Was hoping there were more people with experience from other sources as well. Guess not.

OnePlus clears things up: OnePlus 13 and 13R are getting 4 OS updates as promised

Okay, you can put down the pitchforks – the OnePlus 13 and OnePlus 13R will receive 4 major OS updates as originally promised. To spell it out, that is Android 16, 17, 18 and 19 (the two phones came out with 15).

Earlier today, there was some confusion after a OnePlus US PR representative claimed that OnePlus will be counting the out-of-the-box software as one of the four updates. That made no sense and the company has clarified that it isn’t going to do that.

Besides the four OS updates, OnePlus will deliver security updates for its 13-series models for six years (again, as originally promised).

i'm also in the market now that my OP6 has come back with major motherboard issue after 6 years of great service
Snapdragon 845, 6/128 was enough for my daily use
tempted now with this and where to find reliable source to purchase
or do you think its better to import and use shipping service?
i used scott way back when i got the OP6

I bought the 24GB/1TB One+13 from Nanozee at a great price. I see now it's R1500 more. Took much longer to be delivered though, approx 3 weeks. Flashed it imediately with the Indian ROM. Works like a charm! I last used a One+8.

A bit unsure to be honest. I’ve used MyUS shipping service before but not sure which market to buy the op13 from, US and Uk prices seem a bit steep. The cheapest I guess is the person who bought from AliExpress here and probably Nanozee but I see they increased their price. I’m a bit put off by the ColorOS Chinese rom thing and after watching this YT video my anxiety has gone up, doubt I’ll be able to flash to global OxygenOS rom, especially with my knack of breaking things.

Maybe @hcpeer can pitch in on how easy it was to flash and if everything still works. Especially nfc and google pay? I’m assuming you went from colourOS to Indian OxygenOS?

Still undecided. Had a chance to see a OP7tPro, didn’t purchase it due to the condition and seller not being very forthcoming. But wow, for such an old device its hardware still competes with current year flagships. Not spec for spec but screen and build quality is impressive. Overall very impressed with OP. Such a pity that our local VC and CelluCity had to inflate the OP7tPro price so badly that it probably hurt sales and by the time they sold off the local stock, interest maybe dropped in the brand and the local distributors didn’t bother bringing in more. The lack of service partners doesn’t help.

I’ll update on which option I take. Need to watch a few more reviews and maybe just maybe I’ll go Nanozee if the price drops.

Let us know what route you take.

OnePlus is axing the Alert Slider

OnePlus CEO Pete Lau posted a lengthy community post detailing why the brand is going away with the Alert Slider on its future devices. The decision comes as the brand received continuous feedback from users who requested a customizable Alert Slider.

Lau confirmed that OnePlus wanted to transition to a more capable “smarter, customizable button”. He also explained the upcoming button will still offer the same functionality as the Alert Slider, allowing users to switch between sound profiles quickly, but it will also offer added functionality.

The Alert Slider has been part of every OnePlus flagship since the OnePlus 2 from 2015. The only exception was 2022's OnePlus 10T, which ditched it but the brand then brought it back a year later following consumer feedback.

Just killed my buzz to buy.
Why pay almost 16k now and then the next device has this button.....
Be it for better or worse.
I prefer the slider though.
