My step-bro has noticed no jelly effect in any use case, and neither have most owners on the OnePlus forum. I'll be receiving my OP5 today or tomorrow and can verify yet another device.
 
I got my Oneplus 5 last week and haven't noticed any jelly effect. I think it's just the internet blowing things out of proportion as usual.

Does anyone know when Takealot is going to be getting cases for it? I really need to get one but shipping is 10-15 days from Amazon and Zasttra. The last I heard, Takealot would be getting stock by the end of July so it would be worth it to wait till then.
 
Took delivery of my OP5 earlier this morning and so far I'm over the moon. Certainly no jelly effect, and the phone is blazing fast. Display quality is a good step up from my outgoing OnePlus One. And dash charging is ridiculously fast.

Gees, the 5 is replacing a 1? That's quite a significant upgrade!! Wow man!

Heard some bad stuff about zastra - best you avoid em
also consider that you pay for courier if you need to return

in the same boat as you regarding the case but think i'll bite the bullet and get something from amazon - shipping should be fast.

Thanks! And yeah it's a big step up. Much more than I expected, as I thought the Snapdragon 801 with 3GB RAM was pretty decent even 3 years later. Well the OP5's buttery smoothness is something to behold.

Make sure you add one of the bumper cases to your order if you buy direct. My kevlar case is amazing. So thin it barely increases the thickness of the phone, really nice soft touch material, it protects the protruding camera by making it flush with the back and will prevent all the small dings and scratches that tend to accumulate on metal phones.
 
Some more impressions after nearly a full day with the OP5:

- Dash charging is just ridiculously fast
- OxygenOS is so good I'd say it's the best version of Android that exists.
- The fingerprint reader is the fastest I've ever seen. Almost instant.
- While the amp seems average, the DAC is extremely impressive. Earphones and headphones sound better than with any other phone to me.
- Being able to have the capacitive home button work whilst also having on-screen navigation is the best thing ever.
- The physical notification slider is so amazing I can't believe all other Androids haven't copied it.
- This is the only phone, Android or iOS, I've used that is buttery smooth all of the time.
- The camera is outstanding in most conditions. 10/10 for my needs.
- Being able to display data speed in the notification bar is one of the most useful random features I've come across.
- Definitely haven't noticed any jelly scrolling effect.

Can't recommend the OP5 highly enough to prospective buyers.

What did you hear about Zasttra? I placed an order before which was OK, but about to order again

In Android Whatsapp, you can backup all your chats and embedded media to Google Drive - I think the iPhone app has the same feature.

Go to Menu > Settings > Chats > Chat Backup

When I installed WhatsApp on the OnePlus, it validated my phone number, detected a backup was done (my google account was linked at this stage) and restored everything.
 
It didn't restore my chat history from the iPhone which was backed up to iCloud. That's the only option for backups on iOS.

Damn, thats a pity. Worked like a charm migrating from a Samsung Note 4 to a OnePlus 3T.

There used to be WhatsApp migrator apps in the past on the Android Play store, maybe see if the Apple app store has something equivalent?

Hi gabznw

Have you tried switching the phone on and off again? If the problem keeps occurring , try leave it off and throw it away. Then it will no longer be an issue.

Was hoping for an opportunity to take some pics today but didn't get a chance. I did some Googling and this pic is pretty much spot on:

God knows why an Oppo R11 is in there, but the case looks exactly like that. Big cut outs along the sides for top and bottom and buttons, which keeps the profile as small as possible. The case is the thickness of the phone including the camera bump, so it's all flush at the back with the case on. It has a nice soft touch feel and you can't detect ridges or anything like that from the kevlar design. The inside of the case is a microfibre cloth material, which inspires confidence in its ability to protect the phone.

Many people have claimed to have done it. Just Google it for a bit and you'll quickly come across programs that claim to provide such functionality. Keep an eye out for scammy looking websites of course, and whether or not free trials are available.

/Obligatory mention that you should be using Telegram instead, which stores all your stuff nicely and securely in the cloud.
