Turns out my issue is a Telkom or line fault, even though my tracerts show no problems. Will have to bitch to Telkom then.

Thanks for testing, MrBEEP...

DJ how would or how did you find out it was Telkom side?

MrBEEP tested on his side and sent me the speed results. It is working fine on his side, which means that logically we can rule out the account being the problem. That leaves Telkom as the problem...

I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of the issues are Telkom related, with them possibly not having all staff members back yet, but traffic picking up to normal daytime volumes...

Just another observation, one that Mr. Beep has mentioned earlier, as its the new year and people are coming back, there is more demand on the network for updates, browsing from work PC/kids still on holiday bored etc. so I'm sure there is certainly some of that contributing at the current time. It is insane how much bandwidth facebook and all that crap takes up let along productive time that gets lost. Perhaps everyone uploading their holiday pics to their timelines between work haha.

Been a openweb customer going on 3 years now. First time it's ever been like this.

opened a ticket and told them i'm cancelling my account as of today.

then reply that i must send my username but call me by name...

oh its so funny. if they have my name they have my username. its stalling tactics by an awful company.

took up this issue up with a CPA lawyer earlier and he said that you pay for a service, so if there's no service theres no need to pay. in this case your paying in advance so your entitled to a refund as theres no service. uncapped is a 24 hour service not only after hours.

the day goes as follow:
425kbps till 07.59
16 - 26kbps from 08.00
150 - 220kbps from 17.00
220 - 330kbps from 18.00
425kbps from 20.00 sometimes only after 23.00

big bowl of bs...

As said earlier, the network is alot busier than normal, and will remain this way probably for the rest of the week.

Many folks are also downloading during peak, which will affect their browsing speeds.

Once we receive their ticket, we can investigate and see what is causing the issue.

Ok, been there done that .... I have mailed. I have a ticket thats active. Have been given the alternate account log in. Am not downloading (actually not able to even get onto google). Have now sent the trace route - when the line is stable.... and all the stuff you requested.

I accept things are busy ... but it cant ONLY affect OW surely.

I accept ypu need to look at this on a case by case basis .... but there are a heck of a lot of cases to look at ....

Still love you guys  just venting and hoping my Wednesday wont be as bad as Monday or Tuesday....

My issue here is this is not some isolated incident.
This has been going on since last year.
Someone is not telling us whats really going on.
Not saying its OW as I despise IS but we pay OW not IS and they have a right and obligation to explain whats going on.
I am getting sick and bloody tired of paying for something and not getting what I am paying for, OW, Vodacom, etc etc etc.
Seems the only ones who do what I ask for is bloody Telkom

and its not telkom's fault as OW usually say:

That is most definitely not an Openweb fault, unless they have hardware set up in your house.

Battling with OW since 5:30pm, not normally so slow, Youtube buffering etc. Will wait till the network isn't so busy, hopefully by 8:30

understandable to a point but just an easy excuse most ppl will buy.

the point is that ppl are paying for GOLD accounts which ADVERTISE higher priority and better service, yet they perform the same as cheaper accs!

pls ask and many will tell you about these problems existing last year during hours.

you are on a trial account, that is why you are happy. monitor the thread and many will tell you the same.

Hi capd, no worries, I understand, I've also heard many excuses by SA ISP's, there should be a book printed "A 101 Excuses..." actually probably is... somewhere... but yeah I do understand what you saying, I have been there many times with past ISP's before. Hopefully your connection comes right and stays right soon. I do hope as well that there won't be any issue once I change from trial. Really really hope.
