With respect, I disagree, not you but IS.
They are doing something and every day at around 5pm its back on.
I can assure you, without fail when that clock hits around 5 or 5:30, the floodgates open again

Are you sure that's not congestion at your exchange?

I had the opposite issue - my line at 5pm would just drop - living in a residential area only means that that's when people start loading my exchange...

Guys, I am home the whole day working. I am not talking about downloading I am talking about international browsing.

This area is anything but congested.
At night I get over 800k and this is when everyone is home

I'm in the same boat - working from home. I had the same issue but the other way around.

Have you run tracerts to see where the bottleneck is when it happens?

So I had been on 2mbps Openweb Gold uncapped for the years++ (paying OW R299 - R329p/m), but I do not get the time to download and most months I hardly even break 10Gig. With all the skips and jumps in youtube I eventually decided enough is enough. I need speed when I am using the internet and decided a capped account would be better suited, full line speed is what
I am after. So I cancelled my account effective end of this month (but I am paid up till the end of this month).

Only to find that my international is not working anymore, problems started soon after I cancelled. O wow, that is rather petty!
Cripple my connection as some form of revenge for cancelling?

Log a support ticket you say? I have done so but it is hardly worth the effort. Ticket ID: KEQ-189-56871

Sad part is, I am trying out a competitor(Afrihost capped), should it not work out I was planning to be back at openweb, but if this is the way they do business I would rather signup with telkom. Keoma are you aware this is going on in your company? Seems like the BOFH at openweb is having some revenge at your company's expense.

A word of advice: Think twice before signing up for a debit order.

Your logic makes my brain hurt.

Kindly allow our staff the courtesy to investigate and resolve the problem.

I see both Charmaine and Leon are working on your issue and have already replied.

I can't speak for everyone else, but my connection was intermittent between 11.45-ish and about 12.45-ish when I went to bed last night. It was either Telkom or OpenWeb experiencing a few hiccups.

When I got up this morning it seemed to be working ok.

@MrBeep, was given a trial platinum account and told to use it while you guys run tests on my account. This works perfectly so it seems to be account related.

Is it possible that you keep giving people trial accounts and tell them to use it for a few days so it resets a rolling window that IS has on the original account that is now not being used then it gets given back to the user and told everything is fixed? Just wondering, trying to make sense of the fix always being a new account or a temp account.

The Platinum account runs on a different portion of the network.

We are testing routing mainly.

My problems with international sites started a week ago (week after I cancelled), I assumed a temporary hickup, so I switched to my Afrihost account, last night when I switched back to openweb international was still not working. I could connect to www.sharenet.co.za and to www.openweb.co.za without any problems. Network indicator was not showing any problems. No issues on afrihost, that rules out telkom too.

Clearly my account has suddenly been made local only, connections did not time out, they are terminated by a firewall (connection rejected)

I see I have been allocated a "new" account. Thanks. *Mixed feelings*

@MrBeep I would still like to know how my gold uncapped became a local only account?

Hi MrBeep...I'd like to cancell my account please....

I was given a test account and this ran smoothly...
When i got the real account it went ok for the first day.
1.I could no longer connect to the IS new server(since it's prob a MTN account)
2.You guys gave me a new account that I could access the news server. But now my international browsing does not work???
3.SO, i have to swap to MTN during the day.....then swap to IS to download something at night.

thanks a mill.
cheers guys.

My internet just died while watching some youtube videos and then taking about 5mins to open this page to comment, any network issues atm?

in a similar boat like others

I'm on a 2meg Gold uncapped. Worked superb since Feb this year.

But since last week. Daytime http is unusable - gmail, facebook, heck even MyBroadband.co.za fails to load. So bad, i cant even get to speedtest.net to find out my speed.
Evenings (say 6pm onwards) everything is fine.

Leon at OpenWeb supplied me with a trial account which worked 100%, was told to use that while he investigates my regular account. Trial expired today, switch back to old account and its the same. totally unusable.

I understand and accept shaping on torrents, large downloads, even ftp. But http browsing shaping, and such bad shaping that gmail cant even load is totally unacceptable.

Currently using a backup Afrihost and/or FNB capped account. Luckily i kept them, learn my lesson years ago to never rely on a single isp. (afrihost (mtn), fnb (saix?), openweb (is)) nice mix so results is very little downtime.

Seems it was a momentary glitch on the network or my exchange :)

I see Leon is dealing with this query.

Have you followed his suggestions?

If you only get local only traffic, there is a fault.

Kindly email [email protected] so that we can investigate.
