My 4meg gold is absolutely rocking today - everything running at full speed!!

which package?

recently moved to telkom 4mb uncapped (main reason to get away from my ISP and to get my circuit to telkom) but am seriously looking at moving to OW now (due to everyone warning me about telkom's throttling), but maybe you can advise which would be better from OW? 4Mb titan or 2Mb gold?

yes, I download, but not bothered about it going during the day or night. but then again it is nice to get my downloads completed. but more importantly i like to watch live streamed online video (supersport for example)
and we like to play xbox online.

will the 2mb gold be adequate? or is the 4mb titan a better option? what are the contention ratios for each?
nothing worse than online streaming pausing every 20secs to buffer a bit more...!

I signed up for Openweb Titan 10Meg package to test this month and in Feb.
I will mainly be using for Netflix and after hours download.
So far it has been running good, except today.

I cannot open eBay.com and Netflix is also not loading.
I had to change to another account.

Local browsing seems fine.
Speedtest is also fine.

not sure if streaming is classed like downloading during the day. maybe beepie can clarify.

Streaming can be shaped during peak, based on how busy the network is.

Things are busy right now, but not so busy that we have to shape streaming.

MrBeep, is there a general streaming protocol that you shape, or do you shape specific services? Because often Youtube will work ok, but Hulu is slow, or Hulu and Youtibe is fine and another streaming service (Linux distro streaming services) is slow.

Hi Kalster

Youtube gets a different priority set to other streaming as it is the most popular streaming site in the world. We tend to give it more bandwidth than the other sites.

Ok thanks. Makes sense.

So is all the rest of the streaming protocol on the same shaping level? Is there even such a thing as a specific streaming protocol?

Anyone have streaming issues with youtube lately? Not able to watch 480p without it stuttering. Bothasig area on a 2MB uncapped Gamers King account

Slow line again, international slow, local fast.
World of Warplanes updating at snails pace (22mb update!)
Facebook, Gmail, Twitter all dead slow.

The conclusion is, the only way to offer double line speed at no extra cost, without increasing contention ratios is for Telkom to drop the IPC price to ISPs.

What happens now? What was the purpose of the test and what is the conclusion?
