Internet still slow today....is it still Apple? Or do I need a port reset? Speedtest tests fine but everything else is sluggish like it is capped, gold it certainly ain't.

I very much doubt Apple had anything to do with why the internet is slow, especially considering the number of iPhone users vs BB's in South Africa.

Whoever told you that were bull****ting you

Unable to access Steam at the moment. Really tired of this during the day, any suggestions or workarounds?

I also often have issues logging into Steam during the day on IS. No idea why. Did it again this morning, so I switch the router off and on, then immediately launched Steam and then it went through, no problem. If I try it again now, I bet it won't log in without a router restart.

It seems a lot of North American services have issues on IS, for some reason. All my North American MMOs have issues connecting from time to time.

Daytime performance has been exceptionally poor on 4MB Gold IS this week. I'm talking HTTP, not NNTP or P2P. Sure, its great after hours, but I need to do things when I need to do things, including streaming live events. The throttling (because that is what it is) has never been this bad before.

Hey Guys

If you are still experiencing issues, please drop us a mail;: [email protected]

We would like to take a look at each case individually. From our general tests, things are starting to look better!

Yep been bad lately. Daytime speed has dropped considerably due to the shaping. It has never been this bad.

Hey Friends,

Things seem to be running normally again.

If you still experience issues, please email [email protected] with your ADSL username so that we can resolve it for you

Running fantastic for me on this side

A single thread HTTP download comes in at 350kB/s, and a single thread RTMP comes down at 103kB/s.

With 8 Threads HTTP I can get 401kB/s, even though my router is synching at 3503kbps

One very happy user here :)

One unhappy here.

And I keep getting the same response, unplug your router, your account runs full speed my side etc.

My speeds are pathetic, yet my FNB account runs fine.

Really had enough of IS, time MrBeep stops defending a crap company and looks for something better.

As per all the results I have sent you, the speedtests myself and my team have done, and hours spent on this problem, this is not an account fault. I will not waste your time and my time by telling you this if it is not the case.

I have suggested you try a different router. I have also suggested reset your router to factory defaults and set it up from scratch. You have not taken my suggestions. What other options are left? You keep on blaming the upstream provider and OpenWeb, stating that your account from other ISP's work fine. This is not conclusive proof that it is an upstream provider fault.

Please email me so that we can arrange a cancellation. If you are no longer happy with the account, it is best we part ways, so that you can use the provider that works for you.

I have now logged on to your 2Mbps account using our Durban test line, herewith the result

Your account is actually bursting above what you are paying for.

Herewith the latest download test

I will stay with OW simply because you get less complaints than the others and you always respond. However, I do think you stick up way too much for IS.

However, lets do this:

1. I have reset the router, the port with Telkom, everything.
2. The FNB account runs fine, the OW runs like a joke.
3. My line stats are awesome, as I'v shown you.
4. I dont think there is anything wrong with my Netgear DG834GT.

I will go and buy a router that you suggest. However, if the line remains the same, will you pay me back for it in full?

PoiZoNouz, when last did you factory reset your router? (little reset micro switch on the back of the router.)

On numerous occasions I found that when you do this it solves the problem too.

I make a rule of doing a factory reset on my router once a month, just to ensure nothing goes awry.

PoiZoNouz, what protocols are running slow on your side? I've found that torrents seem to be running a bit slow today, but my other protocols run alright.

As for IS, I've been on it for about a month and a half now, and no major complaints so far. It's performing decently. I'm not exactly excited to be on the IS backbone, but if it isn't giving issues then I'm complacent.

No, I will not pay you back for the router.

I have presented the facts as they are. You must further troubleshoot the matter, as myself and the team have tested and can, without a doubt say the fault is not on the account side

So if I buy a router and the problem persists, I waste a R1000 and nothing gets solved?

Everything is slow. Podcasts (local) time out. News crawls at 40-50k/s. International browsing is pathetic. Wont even try Youtube.

Thats local.

Cant test FNB, capped. Had to do all my apple updates on it.

Oh, and cant do a full reset of router, have no network cable :(

Wait, don't go buy one. You live close to me. PM me so I can take my router to your house tomorrow so we can test it.

Thanks for the offer. Did PM.

The line is perfect this morning, and like I said, buying a new router would have been a waste.

In my case, I'm really beginning to believe that it is my router. :(

Yesterday (and the week before), I was not in the best of moods, especially because my D-Link DSL2760U is only 1 year and 4 months old!

Anyway, I've ordered a TP-Link TD-W8960N and I can't wait for my new toy to arrive. :)

The fact that my current router has 2 USB ports and the new one won't, isn't really a problem for me any more. I could never get Linux to play nice with D-Links' print server. My network is also set up in such a way, that I don't need to stick a memory stick in my router. I think I've finally figured out how to get Samba to work properly. The reason it took me so long is because I hardly ever had the need to boot Windows. Now I have to, so that I can get a sense of IE strangeness, because I'm in the middle of doing some web development. My VirtualBox installations of Windows are too up to date to really test. :P
