hi all,I need honest answers to these questions:

Does anyone get full speeds on openweb gold anymore? I have been with openweb for the past week and all i can say is that i am VERY (emphasis on VERY) disappointed with the speeds. I have used openweb gold in the past and i used to get download speeds of 900Kps on my 4MB gold uncapped but now i only get 410Kps.I want to know if this a general problem or it is just my account that is being throttled.

Hello,

Are you getting 410KB/s or 410kb/s ?

Wait i hope this oke isn't moaning about not getting 10 meg speed lol on a 4 meg account.

I guess some people set different standards for their expectations!

lol

4MB line = 4096 Kb(it)/s. There are 8 bits in a byte, therefore that = 4096/8 = 512KB/s.

Now there are overheads and all that and you'll typically see about 450KB/s before taking into account network congestion, server congestion, throttling, and shaping.

Speeds have dropped down to ~50% (50 KBps on a 1 Mbps line) for the past hour. I just want my VB account back which ran at full speed 24/7 for the past 2 months. Will give it about a month, but if OW is doing away with VB and cannot give me the same level of performance that I used to get, then I will unfortunately have to leave them.

Sorry i meant 410KB/s.The first time i signed up with you guys i was getting up to 1MB download speeds on a 4 meg line and i was even stunned. When i checked on MB ,a lot of guy were getting the same speeds and i was very impressed.Of course over time the speed went down because i am a heavy downloader. This time around though the speed has been pretty much stuck between 428kb/s and 399kb/s. I also noticed that the last time my speedtest.net was clocking at 8.1MB but now it is clocking at 3.45MB.

Maybe i am missing something but i thought the openweb 4MB Gold account were supposed to have more va va voom that what you get on standard 4 meg lines.

I think you're either confused, or you're confusing us. Instead of using abbreviations, rather just spell it out whether you're referring to bits or bytes :)

Anywhere between 399Kbytes/sec to 428Kbytes/sec is excellent for a 4Mbit line.

Apologies ,i am not too clued up about the correct terminologies. What i see on my screen is 410KB/s.I don't know what magic openweb performed before but am pretty sure i was getting up 900KB/s on Jdownloader when i download from file sharing sites like filesonic.I guess that may have raised my expectations too high like Brieuse said.

So you're "VERY disapointed" that you're getting full speed on a 4mb account lol.

Thanks for the confirmation ,i guess i got lucky before.I still can't understand why i was getting such high speeds before though  .

Is anything up at the moment...? MyBB and Mygaming are taking forever to load as well as some other sites. Youtube also takes forever to buffer and then suddenly it plays...? Internet is terribly laggy at the moment...

Is anyone else on Gold Uncapped having any speed issues recently?

I'm not sure what backbone I'm on.. Any way to find out?

I used my account for three days last week, was full speed all the time, then my line went dead for 5 days, Telkom fixed it yesterday and now my Openweb account is unusually slow. Last night it was fast, over 500 KB/s, but today I'm getting 100KB/s and less :( I understand downloads are/can be shaped during the day, I've just never seen it happen at this level with Openweb Gold.
