Openweb uncapped ADSL feedback

IS had a major outage earlier between their new offices (bryanston) and the place where they originally were located (rosebank, which incidently houses most of their pipes) which has affected the link to london as well.

The link has partially been restored and there will be some packet loss(think more loss then success) as well as higher latency

This happened somewhere around 3:30 this afternoon

Also on a 10Mbps unshaped after hours account and im barely getting 30 - 100Kb/s on http/itunes downloads. There must be a problem with IS then?? My account has been flying since I switched over beginning of the month. Already reset my router too.

This IS nonsense is now irritating me big time, I have hardly been able to use this account for basic browsing all week.

Can someone go kick IS and their network hard enough to make it WORK ... which is what we are PAYING for.

I notice we never get refunds or discounts when there are extended outages ... time for CPA provisions to kick in, although that's probably too much to hope for.

As a follow up: Mr Beep responded with 15 minutes with an alternative network (Altech) which is much better indeed.

Seacom Restored

From Seacom website:

The SEACOM cable network was successfully repaired on the 29th of October 2011 and all circuits were restored to the core network as of the 4th of November 02:00 GMT.

And for the first time since 8 October it seems I have international access on VB again. Yippee!

Earlier this morning 99% of my USA weblinks opened, but now it's back to most are inaccessible again, even after a reboot.

Question: Other VB users who had the prolonged International access problem, are yours fully restored now?

Im getting great speed on VB with downloading...410kb/s. Latencies in gaming is bad though. Keep getting disconnected and getting huge ping spikes while on VB(and no I don't download while I game). But I have my backup account for gaming at least which is running well.

Seriously! I am making it a personal mission in life to go blast openWeb from now on and tell the world they are the worst isP in history. Did you read the post by MrBeep earlier on? Let me paraphrase his post:
"If not being able to use your internet at all doesn't suit your needs, please contact me so I can enable the internet on your account. if you are happy with not having internet, then just don't email us. Have a nice day"

WTF!?!? Why not just give EVERYONE who pays for internet, well... internet! I have the gold account and have had 4 sets of login details in 4 days and on day 5 I am back down to 7Kbps... again! I am paying for a 1MB line but they give me 0.03 - 0.1% of what I am paying for. I have to mail them daily to get my speed back up to 9% of what I am paying for.

Today I tried phoning customer support and got a machine: "Sorry, we only work Monday to Friday" so now I am stuck with 6kbps internet for the entire Weekend! What the hell am I paying 1MBPS for if they only give me 7kbps max ??? Hell, a dialup account is faster than their 1MB gold account!

Let me repeat: I have to phone them daily to fix my line speed from 0.03% of what I'm paying for to 9% of what I'm paying for but they don't work weekends..!

I feel this is blatant theft of my money and unless they give me a refund I will feel no guilt in telling the world that they are stealing my money and offering dialup access under the guise of ADSL. I cannot imagine a worse ISP...

Would you kindly substantiate that outrageous claim with evidence? I couldn't find any such post in the thread (and I receive an email for every single post in this thread).
Openweb was voted 3rd (and there was only a 4% difference between 1,2,3) best ISP in the country for 2011. I would definitely say that OW provides the best service in the country.
Have you considered that it might be an issue on your adsl line?

Also have always recieved excellent service from MrBeep even tho speeds atm are not ideal I still think it would be best to wait after sat-3 link finally gets sorted out before you pass judgment. On a side note anyone currently on Altech 4mb that could pm me? thanks.
