Openweb uncapped ADSL feedback

I just noticed the OpenWeb Gold Uncapped pages say nothing about how many concurrent connections you're allowed to have. I'm assuming it should be only one, right?

Correct, most uncapped accounts are limited to 1.

So slow that speedtest is not even opening :wtf:

Checked elsewhere and download and upload are at 0.1mb/s. At 7am on a Monday morning. I have not used more than 10 GB thus far.

I am still flying here on Openweb gold. Full speed for the last two months.

Sent MR Beep an email. Sorted within 20 minutes. Should really have done so during the weekend.

Now thats great service!:)
It definitely is.

Unfortunately due to our pathetic telecommunications setup all ISPs have problems. The reason why Openweb stand out is because of the personal service. My only problem is I forget that such service is available as I am so used to sending emails that are never acknowledged with other ISPs, so prefer to use the phone.
Every time I have sent an email to Openweb, it has been responded to in minutes and the problem resolved. I am now getting 0.9 mb/s download speeds.

Yeah its crawling! Im on Openweb Gold 4meg with IS backbone. Its going so slow!!! Not sure if i should complain to them or wait and see if it comes right

Hi Guys

Best news server to use with my OW account?
I tried news.is.co.za and news.saix.net however Grabit keep on showing "unable to connect"
Or am I doing something wrong?

Thanks in advance.

Considering news.is.co.za doesn't work for you, you're not on the IS backbone. Same with the Saix server. You will have to subscribe to a news server. Newsdemon and Astraweb work well on OW.

You could try a XSUsenet a/c - they are free, I've used one now and then and it worked OK, not always but seeing as it didn't cost me anything, no biggie. Link: http://www.xsusenet.com/en/

I am at a total loss with my openweb gold uncapped account(was on VB backbone, he provided me with an alternative username) - been busy corresponding with mr beep - it's as if I am now on a after hours uncapped package.

I tested my fnbconnect account and it motored at 420KB/s - openweb tried something, account picked up at 10.00 in the evening and ran fine at 400KB/s + until 6.00 in the morning.

Now it's crippled again - account is totally useless :

The theoretical network limit is 0.24 Mbps
The network based flow control limits the throughput to 1.65 Mbps

Must say I have been experiencing a similar thing this month, downloads are fine at night {full line speed} but in the day the account sometimes struggles to load international sites and times out often on anything but local sites. The first account I had for the month was even worse after e-mailing them and requesting to be moved was given a new account {this one} which does feel very limited in the day times. I have had nothing but good speeds from these accounts for the past year in which I used them so I believe their must be a problem somewhere in the network also their seems to be a lot of users complaining about speed issues this month guess we will have to wait and see, let us know if you come right.

Strange issue that I am having. I'm on 4MB Altech backbone, which has worked well for months. For the past few days watching anything on Youtube has been a nightmare. I get constant "An error has occurred. Please try later." If I try through a proxy, it works fine without problems. If I switch to another account (Afrihost) it also works fine. When I Switch back to Altech, I get error after error. It doesn't matter which browser I use.

Anyone else getting this problem, or is it just me?
