Openweb uncapped ADSL feedback

Yeah, it looks a bit better - but still a lot of timeouts and glacial performance on mail/svn/git/ssh/steam (something broken with shaping and ssl?). There's some work on the exchange closest to here, so I'll wait on that before I get in contact, on the off chance :)

There is currently a Telkom IPC fault causing issues on some of our backbones.

Engineers are attending to get it resolved for the crazy download weekend ahead. I myself have around 20GB's I need downloaded before tomorrow afternoon, so trust me, this is getting TOP priority!

And connection problems

Thats good news MrBeeb, hope they sort it out quickly as my latency has gone up even more since I last posted. Hoping to play some BF3 tonight.

Heavy lag on IS with international. Last night and tonight its kinda bad with spikes up to 800ms. League of Legends not so fun. But its the first time since I got my account 2 months back so I'm not so upset.

Hi ,has anybody seen any improvement yet ,torrents is still not working ,if I switch to my other account I get full line speed on 1mb ,on openweb cant keep steady at 5kbs.
Having a terrible second week at Openweb ,first was better than expected.

Hey Friends,

If the problem still persists, please email [email protected] so that we can investigate. The core network issye was resolved yesterday. Thank you for your patience on that!

I have to say that I thought I had lag but it wasn't ISP related. It was akamai client services that silently installed on my pc and was capping my upload speed the whole time making me lag in games. Sigh make sure that you guys check that you NEVER install pando media booster and akamai client services cause they max your upload speeds the WHOLE time sharing stuff like game files like league of legends and adobe related product for faster downloading for other people.

Hello,

There are currently no general issues causing problems.

If you are experiencing an issue, please email [email protected] so that we can troubleshoot.

There are currently around 21 Telkom ADSL faults on their network, which will cause regional speed and downtime issues. To find out whether you are affected, please call Telkom on 10210

Yeah I've been having authentication problems since yesterday.

Hi MrBEEP,

I've done that and have been given an alternate account (*@openweb.co.za) which does authenticate, but the speeds are poor (dropping to 50% of what I used to get). I was told that my VB account (oisp-*@vb.co.za) is experiencing unknown issues which will take time to investigate and resolve.

I was wondering if this is a general problem, or if it's specific to my account. Also, an ETA would help so that I can plan around this. Thanks :)

They told me the same thing. And I was also very happy with my VB account, and the new IS account (*@openweb.co.za) sucks in comparison. Eish.

Based on further feedback, it seems like they're doing away with VB accounts :(

I've been given a DSL-Heaven account now which downloads from Usenet at about 80% of my line speed. While it's better than the IS one, the performance still doesn't match up to VB.
