Hey Friends,

You should have received your Seacom backup accounts. We will be keeping the thread updated regarding the Seacom cable repairs. The ship is on route to restore the cable.

Do we all receive Seacom backup accounts ? If so, I haven't received one yet :(
 
I have had zero problems on Altech gold apart from some minor packet loss on Thursday evening when SAT3 went down. It has been screaming along at 480KB+ over the past 2 days
 
Yea my standard uncapped also under performing, but sure it will go back to normal once they are finished with repairs.
 
Im on a seacom account, and it is chugging along wonderfully at 390kB/s.

Can you give us a list of all the backbones you have available for gold uncapped users?

So if I go to a gold account, will I be running at full capacity and latency back to what it was ? I'm only using it for some online gameing, and the standard uncapped 1mb was working great with sub 250ms in WoW.
 
Holy cow these seacom accounts were glorious!!

Why do you guys not offer accounts over seacom 24/7?
Or is BCS the Seacom account?

SAT3 is back up and running. All services will be restored to their normal glorious OpenWeb speeds over the next hour. Let us know how it goes!
 
Great news indeed. Was having huge lag yesterday while raiding in Rift.

I know its probably been asked already in this thread somewhere... :o

out of the 4 account types below, which one is better? for gaming (latency)

and how do I go about changing between the different ones for testing purposes?
 
@Techead - I have a normal 1mb standard uncapped account with Openweb and before the cable outage, I had 190-210ms constant latency in WOW and Diablo 3 was also very stable. Over the weekend I changed to my back-up account with Webafrica for gaming. I will change back tonight again to Openweb to see if they are back to normal but a standard uncapped account will do.
 
For gaming I would suggest IS. I do a lot of gaming and latency is good. Very good for downloads too!

IS is the all rounder, lowest pings all round and is the better choice for gaming. Use a Web Africa backbone if you need downloading throughput throughout the day.
