Openweb uncapped ADSL feedback

Appears to be true, my browsing speed has decreased since this mornings awesomeness.

If ihated Apple before, iHate it now even more.

It is incredible the amount of traffic being used by Apple updates at this stage. The problem is, they released a whole bunch of different updates around the same time, thus there is a scramble. Not to mention the auto update feature that updates the devices without the user even knowing!

So Apple sneezes and we all catch the cold? how arrogant, they should suffer like the rest of us.

Apple....the A is for arrogance. The paying public gets smooshed by an Apple.

Well, if you're having the same issues I had earlier this week, froot sent me this and it fixed it.

I fixed my problem with that the other day.

Right click the Youtube video, settings -> go to storage and make it max.
Then go to your Youtube settings (profile) -> playback -> slow connection.

Since then my videos have all been buffering for me when I pause them (also on IS).

Thanks Graal, Im on 4m but sometimes while I am downloading something the streaming sucks a bit :P

Also experiencing massive shaping on all protocols during business hours on Gold Uncapped 4Mbps (IS backbone). I can understand torrents, etc being shaped during day, but defiantly not HTTP. Unable to access Steam too.

On Afrihost 1GB account, everything is perfect.

I've been having to get a new account every week because after a few days the connection is shaped again, getting rather annoying now.

Youtube is actually buffering faster than I've ever seen it buffer on a 384 account on my side atm.

Also, somewhat off topic, can I just say that I absolutely love this dog that's on OpenWeb's site?

do we have an backbone on ow gold that can do full speed on nntp during the day?

I get around 170kB/s during the day using 6 SSL connections each to the US and to the UK for 12 total SSL connections.

And yes. The dog is epic. As is the one in the superman cape :)

This is more of a little rant than anything else, because apparently "the issue cannot be reproduced".

For more than a week now, I have had to use either my Cybersmart or Afrihost backup accounts to get some work done. Almost every time I upload anything to my web hosts (yes, two different hosts in two completely different locations), I have to cancel, restart, cancel, restart...... until eventually manage to upload a 38KB .jpg. (SFTP and FTP)

This is during and after office hours.... but the problem cannot be reproduced. Oh well what can I do? Cybersmart's port reset (they have my line, Telkom won't do it) also did bugger all.

The other accounts work fine, by the way... it's just that I'm quickly running out of bandwidth.

Youtube is dead for me today.

Sounds weird. Post some router stats, make, model etc. And do a tracert using each different account?

The thing is, I can reach sites like YouTube and Hostgator's forum registration pages easily, but as soon as I try to stream video/register, nothing happens. Also downloading a new theme for a phpBB forum that I'm hacking together - impossible unless I use a backup account.

With SFTP, the file starts uploading, blanks (0KB) the file on the server and just never completes... but not every time. While I'm typing this, I'm trying to upload a 4.0 kB test file (with FileZilla). Same story and still not uploaded.

So, I don't know, it's all over the place. At one stage I thought that it must be SSL related, but I don't have a clue.

Anyway - Router:
D-Link 2760U
Bridge PPPoE Frames Between WAN and Local Ports
MTU 1492
DNS 8.8.8.8 / 8.8.4.4 (also tried dynamically assigned)

Nothing unusual except maybe for "Bridge PPPoE Frames....", but I've used that for ages and actually need it.

Traceroute:

I honestly don't know to where to traceroute to "prove" this problem. Like I said, I don't have problems reaching websites.

Edit: Oh, and Dropbox just syncs for ever and ever, amen! Not with my other accounts, though.

Edit2: I find that when I refresh certain pages, like Dropbox or a "watch" page in YouTube, lots and lots of times they will eventually work. (I have tested this in all of my 6 or 7 different internet browsers)

Unable to access Steam at the moment. Really tired of this during the day, any suggestions or workarounds?
