Hurri-cane katryn 2017 ... although here we are, 30 minutes before the predicted landfall of this epic storm ... and F-ALL ...

Nah, best NW I seen since I move on the Atlantic side, picking up.
Starting to sounds like a SE of proportions.
Its coming, make no doubt.

Wife's office shut down for tomorrow,
UCT closed (I think they do a lot of weather modeling)
Why would they shut down the entire uni if there was no reason?
Schools closed...
just the wind alone is gonna be harsh, Fark the swell is already picking up, I can hear it from here.

Sorry to say but incoming.
I am sure that later this evening we will be glad to be on higher ground.

Gonna be bad this evening, hope you got your soups ready.

Respect and stay dry and safe.

You must be a newbie to the Atlantic side then :p

You can probably still find pics of the last few proper storms here, Brass Bell out in Kalk Baai got flooded, windows got smashed. On the western seaboard side I watched my downstairs neighbor's umbrella get lifted into the air and carried into the ocean 70m away, with the concrete base and all, and Doodles also had their awning properly damaged ...

This? so far this is nothing, puppies cuddling, a cutesie non-event

meh, so much respect for the "science" of weather forecasting ... an hour into the "storm" and nothing out of the ordinary, apparently the action only starts around 3am now ... :erm:

Boet,

I have lived on the Atlantic most of my life. Excuse my French but F off if you think I have a limited idea of weather. Technically, your False Bay ****e does not compare to this side.
Nor the South coast of Oz, nor Cyclones on the Gold Coast.

Go read the synoptic charts in raw format, then come back.
Do you understand what a synoptic chart is?
Pretty impressive data, especially in the 80's and 90's.

Don't piss me off with your rude comments..

I will post a vid or two for consumption once the swell peaks. (Sandy Bay, not going to brave other places being so sick)

But please, don't think I am ignorant of weather/swell patterns, been chasing swell for 28 years, around the world.
So, just give another poster some respect boet.
Tiss all I ask.
sorry I got so angry,
you just miffed me big time.

Hrrm, raining her now think it is the drizzle before the real thing. Fark its cold.

Peace and respect.

its 3am now and I'm wondering the same thing

I've been up for an hour already and it hasn't rained once in that time.
