On the 1GB speed package at the moment, cannot test international while the cables out, but local is great. Only downside for me is support, you have to wait for an hour before you are helped on the whatsapp system. Furthermore, I have no complaints so far![]()
I lost 199GB worth of data on their new MTN LTE fixed wireless. For a month i kept calling for them to resolve my connectivity issue but i was never helped. Ended up cancelling the contract
Afrihost have left me stranded, frustrated and furious. I have 20/20 (at one point 50/50) home fibre. It used to be great before they moved to exclusively and only uncapped fibre packages. Social and entertainment sites like Netflix and YouTube are super fast, but I work from home and regularly download large files and browse media databases for work. A 30MB file can take half an hour to download. A 100MB+ file takes multiple hours or days if at all. Some sites don’t even load properly or at all — connecting to 3G on my phone or another network and those same sites load quickly and work perfectly well! I’ve logged multiple complaints and faults and they’ve never resolved the issue. The line pings at 20/20 regularly.
I can only conclude that their ‘unshaped’ fibre is certainly shaped on sites that may not ordinarily be ‘home’ use. I huge scam I think. I’m moving somewhere else when I can forfeit the months of no internet it’s going to take to migrate the line.
new to this ISP, using their fixed LTE offering on Telkom. Biggest issue is the loadshedding causing the towers to shut down.
Ping: 20ms
Download: 10.91Mbps
Upload: 4.12Mbps
Their Web Hosting really sucks for commercial use but as an ISP their service is great!
I've been using them for about 2 yrs now. I have mostly great service and great quality internet. Whenever I logged a ticket, it was dealt with professionally and had a resolution in good turn around time. Only had an issue that upset me once, and that was when my package cost was doubled and I was not made aware, they debited my account and I had to contact them to find out why and subsequently had to downgrade from my 100Mbs line to fit into my budget. But still, it was all handled very well and I was impressed. I've advocated business for Afrihost on many occasions based on the good service I received. Not every day we find this in good ol' SA
In the middle Cyril, Nothing makes them stand out either way.

Their support channels and delivery is slow. Waiting 10+ days for a router to be delivered. Don't know how long to activate it yet. . But the support on the Forum is what makes it worth it even though it takes time to wait for a reply of course. If they would ever drop support on the Forum it will be the end for me.
I am so sorry that we failed you in regards to service delivery. That's on us and apologise on behalf of Afrihost if we've caused any inconvenience for you. Please drop us a mail at [email protected].
I am so sorry! Those speeds are not good at all. Have you run a speedtest via LAN cable?
