Dont bother looking anywhere south of CC then, IMO you are already looking in the right places.
 
You can use something like Easymove for your furniture but I will rather look for similar companies and read the reviews. It cost about 8k for all my stuff (small apartment size). These companies are busy and it is possible that they will only take your stuff a month later.

You can drive down to CPT and use LekkeSlaap to find a place to stay over somewhere in BFN or Beaufort-Wes.

Rail stopped moving cars when covid happened. They have promised to start it again but landline is still disconnected.

Huge pity as they were cheap (R4k/R5k)

Truck is only option unfortunately.

Don't, i moved 2 years ago for work, and this place is subpar compared to jhb, seriously everyone raves about cpt, but in my experience it's a crap place.

I have several quotes to bring a bakkie down all ranging between R6500 and R9000 from about 2 weeks ago.

Not sure what car you got a quote for.

Sorry, to be precise. Intercity Auto Movers. Door to door was R10 407,50 and depo to depo was R8521,50. This was the 1st of Dec. Honda Jazz.

I got one or two for R9k as stated previously, can't be bothered to go and search my mail for those ones. WOuld you like me to upload a picture of the quoets for your forensic purposes too?

Dude - not arguing or questioning.

all my quotes were depo to depo so we got quoted the same more or less.

Lol no worries man. Ya but its crazy how the cost of transporting goods has risen. I just ended up flying up and driving the car down. Probably cost me about R4k that way.

As other posts I have no clue if you are still able to use rail. I checked the invoice it was R4400 for a medium sized SUV.

Details if at all still useful of the guys I used. Zero issues.

Unless they have huge sentimental value it may be better to sell them and then buy new in Cape Town.
The removal company will charge a good few thousand to move them. Or the best option if you have a Towbar is to rent a one way trailer, which means you pick it up in JHB an drop it in Cape Town, it’s around R900 last I checked for a 3m trailer.
 
I've never understood why you would want to put a perfectly good car on a train, where who knows what could happen to it, when you can just drive it down a lot quicker and easier.

Been seeing a LOT of Durban (ND) numberplates in Cape Town over the past few months and they don't seem like visitors or tourists. I think a lot of people have semigrated from Durban lately for obvious reasons.
