Router Battery Backup

Not familiar specifically with your model but judging from the size it is simply four lithium batteries, looking at around R500-R600 to replace, pretty simple to swap out.
At that price one can just buy a new unit rather then.

That is what I never understood either. The cost of the cells, in many cases, is more or similar than that of a new unit. Just chuck it and get a new one.

The cells in the unit is most certainly lower quality than Samsung 30Q cells which is what you would buy for R500-R600.Had the unit had 30Q cells it would be much more expensive.

My 14/15 month old Ellies mini cube has died on me today . The box says it has a 3 year warranty so I guess I'm going to visit Ellies next week.

Where did you buy it from? Most of the places gives you only 1 year warranty on it and some only 6 months on the Ellies cube. Would be interesting what they would say about the 3 year warranty (maybe some kind of extension you could get if you pay for it) and about the batteries let us know :)

They also only mention this on their website > All of our products are backed by a 12-month warranty.

Bought it from the Ellies branch in Cape Town directly. Not getting my hopes up but worth asking.

If it just hung on a little longer I probably wouldn't have bothered, getting a proper backup system installed in about 2 weeks. If they replace it I can pass it on to someone else.

How would you solder onto the battery? I don't want to buy a spot welder just for that lol.

Had time to look for the box & the receipt, bought it on 02/05/2021, so barely a year old. This is the back of the box:

Ah i see they state > this inverter carries a 3 year warranty. Technically the cube mini is not a inverter only the Power stations does have a build in inverter.

But show them the box and see what they say who knows with these guys. Keep us in the loop :)

So kudos to Ellies, not even 5 minutes in and out. They swapped it out with a new one and didn't even bother testing the old one (although the assistant said they normally do).
