I was just wondering why, on a lively thread like this one, the last post was two days ago!
I thought perhaps the thread was snapped by some Blackberry or iPhone

Did I say something bad about the S2? Maybe annoyed that it didn't have a glass back?

You and mercurial had a tiny tiff when the S2 launched... Makes for some funny reading. I'm glad it doesn't have a glass back - would've been too heavy for my taste and I don't think changing the battery would have been an option
 
My wife is due for upgrade and I advised her to get the S2, because according to me it's currently the best value-for-money phone on the market.

To our surprise VodacoN no longer have it on their packages.
Guess Vodacom is losing another customer to cell c.

You can also get the S2 on a MTN 100 for R189 a month.
 
Anyone with the extended battery tried running the new back cover and the standard battery? I was wondering about carrying the original as a spare but not carrying the old back cover.
Would a bit of foam to take up the slack work ok?

I want an extended battery, haven't found a kit yet in white though.
 
I need to get an extended battery.
Used my phone with Endomodo today when I went riding and it chomped 55% on a 1 hour 15 min ride.
Granted I do have TTS for voice prompts every 1km, GPS On, Data On, Screen never sleep and screen brightness to full.
Seems I will drain this battery in a 2 hour ride.
Going to need the extended one for when I get fitter :D

I had this problem and tried several different combinations of ROMS and modems. None except the ROMS that were officially released in SA allowed me to save APN's or make use of 3G data (I was using an old MTN sim card). Since porting last week, however, data and APN's are working fine.

A sim swap will probably also do it.
