Skyworth Binge Android TV box

@Skyworth Digital Support my box seems to randomly disconnect from my wifi. Any idea if it is the update that has done this. I'm not even sure if my box did update but this morning it seems to be disconnecting from my router via wifi but my other devices seems fine

The update should not have caused this, we have no other reports of this to date, and we've not seen this. If you don't know if your unit has updated it probably has not.

You may want to try a different channel on your router or check the stability of your wifi with a tool like Wifi analyser. Often these issues are caused by strong interference(in one case we saw a badly shielded microwave cause it), so also look for appliances turning on when it disconnects.

Any idea why it sometimes freezes (screen goes weird and the sound starts looping really quick). It gets stuck and then reboots on its own. It used to do this a while ago, but much more often since the last update.

I know this is an old thread but I just wanted to let you know that I finally managed to side load Netflix. It looks amazing but I wasn't able to navigate using the Skyworth remote. I checked another thread where someone else was having the same issue. The suggestion was to plug in a mouse. I tried that & hey presto it works. Don't give up!

My skyworth shoes not connected under my network settings and sometimes drops the connection any idea why could it be because I'm. On Android Grape as with the previous OS I never had this issue.

Android Grape? The box was recently updated to android 9 (pie).

With the new fix of the optical cable going from the skyworth to the DVD played you have to upgrade to android grape, I can give you the link that the support gave me to fix the audio cable for 5.1 sound.

Try a factory reset, if one wasn't done after the update.

The wifi drivers are updated, but we don't expect to see this, and we have not been able to reproduce it or side.

Is it working in either direction? That is can the TV control the box or the box the TV?

LG does have a somewhat 'unique' implementation of CEC.

Hi

Just to report back.. and sorry it took so long.

I sat down to do the adb tests/logs as requested via email .... and to my dismay everything worked as it should??? Or at least it worked 1 way (box turning the tv on). I then went to the box CEC settings and saw that "one key power off" was not ticked (even though I've always had it ticked and even my screenshot shows it). So I flicked that to on and now it works both ways. Woop woop!

Was there perhaps another OTA update that snuck in with a fix? I promise you I'm not imagining things... o_O

Quick question for those using HDMI-CEC: does it extend to the box being controlled using the TV remote? Specifically when using a Hisense TV.

I'm looking to upgrade my set, and am eyeing the Hisense B7100 to pair with this (Hisense for Netflix and this box for Kodi, DSTv Now and YouTube). So I just wanted some sort of clarity on whether HDMI-CEC works, and that I can use a single remote for everything. My current cheapo Sinotec has a pretty poor CEC implementation.

I can navigate the binge UI using my LG tv remote.

I can control all the lot box functions with my Hisense remote.

These are my actions:

Switch on binge box
CEC switches on TV
After box has booted I cast youtube to box from phone

All is working perfectly... but after a minute or so the remote pair screen pops up asking me to pair or press a button on the remote.

Nothing major but it is annoying. Anyone else get this popup if they don't press a button on the remote after switching on?

No update. But it may have been another issue. Perhaps the TV or box got stuck in a inconsistent state, and a hard power cycle cleared it. Hard to say, but we expect it should continue to work.

The remote pairing screen exists as a reminder to the user and comes up if the remote is not currently connected. A necessary reminder, given Google has mandated us changing pairing key combinations 3 times in the lifespan of this box.
