Telkom copper cutover/cutoff

@Valhallan . We were contacted two weeks ago and we are on 10Mbps VDSL and our usage is way over 150GB due to streaming. I think we haven't been contacted again since we said we want the Huawei B525 and not the D-Link they currently giving away. Both free but B525 is better and is R1000 more in value.

I'll update in this thread if the lady phones again.
I got the b525 was on 10mps dsl.

I am on 20m vdsl and use about 300-400gb per month. Telkom has phones us 3 times already, but I declined the offer.

I have had numerous calls regarding changing my ADSL to to LTE and after asking many questions similar to those posted above the one that dumbfounded me the most was what will happen to my uncapped/unshaped ISP and they all say i must cancel it. Running an IT company from home and I use +/- 200GB a month they are telling me take it or lose your ADSL. After working for Telkom for 33 Years in their IT Department i used my contacts still there and this copper story is about maintenance, instead of employing someone to maintain it its cheaper to let it rot in the ground. I have had my ADSL for 12 years with one fault in that time. Come on Telkom give us fibre but keep your LTE it is the most expensive internet available.

What number are the telkom phone calls coming from?
Getting lots of spam calls from 031 and 010

Received an SMS from an +2781 number warning me to expect "an important call" from a number starting with 012 688 xxxx. Three days later they did call from those numbers.

I have two calls on my landline so i am not sure where they calling from but on my cell they are all 012 numbers, i do believe they are a marketing company hired by Telkom to do their dirty work.

I had a call from a friend who was cut over to Telkom LTE two months ago. He lost his @telkomsa.net email address. When he questioned why he was told that this was part of his ADSL package which was now terminated. He had to reapply for his @telkomsa.net address which took 3 weeks for them to reinstate, at an additional charge of course.
I was just phoned by Telkom again this morning wanting to send me an LTE modem and when I asked the woman about loosing my @telkomsa.net address she said it will just be transferred to the new LTE service. Has anyone experienced this yet?

I'd easily switch to telkom lte service if they weren't robbing us with their cap, the available FUP is absolutely depressing!

How is it even equivalent to what ADSL is offering? Telkom is forcing you take a major leap backwards.

Screw them!

Being in the IT Business every one who I know that has gone from ADSL to LTE have lost their mail and then told they have to pay extra +/- R16 to get their email back, it then takes them anything from a week to two months to reinstate the original email address plus all emails that were on the server are gone. They are flippin useless to put it mildly.

Last month I proactively cancelled my ADSL after purchasing a LTE router. I first signed up at a Telkom store for a stand-alone email so I could keep my telkomsa.net email and also cancelled my data package at the same time. I lost my aliases though! After I confirmed the email was working (activated the next day), I cancelled the telephone and ADSL online.

Regarding keeping your Telkom email address and access to Telkom Webmail during and after the Telkom copper cutoff: What Pablo37 said above is a good approach. I took a similar approach: I phoned 10210, chose billing, said Telkom will be at some time cutting off my phone & ADSL, and I want to keep my email address. They suggested they put my email on a standalone account. which worked because I had no email interruption when I also pro-actively cancelled my Telkom ADSL and landline, then changed the day after their end dates to Cell C prepaid anynet calls and Giga data. I did the pro-active cancellations, because I did not want Telkom's "migration specials", and Telkom was unable to tell me when they would cut off my landline & ADSL line. I therefore researched alternatives, got the necessary hardware ahead of time, then cancelled my services.

There is also information about keeping your Telkom email address during the Telkom copper cutoff in the comments on this news article: https://mybroadband.co.za/news/adsl...f-adsl-subscribers-here-are-your-options.html (Scroll down to the bottom of the web page containing this news article, click on comments, and load all the comments).
