Anyone know why Torrents on TI aren't working? If I switch over to Afrihost or WebAfrica, everything is great, yet on TI they don't connect to the swarm.

Just in general, Telkom has been kind of rubbish lately. What's going on? My router also seems to have developed a penchant for disconnecting every ten minutes, regardless of the ISP I'm using, with a screen saying that it's being configured by the Telkom ACS Server. In layman's terms, what is that? I did a search but couldn't find any info about what it's actually doing, just that other people have had similar issues.

Also, is it just me, or have all the official and unofficial Telkom people left? I never see ranger post any more.

Signal Attenuation (SATN): Down: 11.6dB / Up: 6.2dB
Noise Margin (SNR): Down: 23.0dB / Up: 2.9dB
Aggregate Transmit Power(ACTATP): Down: -9.-1dB / Up: 12.4dB

Dear Subscriber,

Telkom Internet is aware that some customers in the Western and Eastern Cape may experience intermittent high latency on some international internet traffic during evenings. Initial investigations by our technical personnel have revealed that local broadband traffic is unaffected and running at normal speeds.
Telkom Internet’s technical team is currently working closely with its wholesale supplier in order to resolve the fault as quickly as possible.

Telkom Internet apologises to affected customers and assures you that the matter is receiving priority attention.
We thank you for your patience while we continue working towards resolving this matter.
Regards,
Telkom Internet Technical Support

Browsing the Internet in Cape Town has become a punishment since September 2015 already. When is this going to be fixed? I am a web designer / developer and rely on proper Internet speeds. At the moment my career has become one big frustration. I am sick and tired of looking at spinning browser tabs. Streaming seems to work fine, but normal browsing has become a pain.

My line speed has been downgraded from 4 Mbps to 3 Mbps, apparently because it has been re-routed and I am now 5 km away from the exchange instead of 3. This is apparently due to Telkom's planned installations of MSANs in Randburg, despite their own website indicating that no upgrades are scheduled. Further down the road from us, the MSANs that were installed earlier in the year have now gone and the old green/blue junction boxes have reappeared. This has happened in Randpark Ridge too. It seems I am being fed a story to calm the waters of poor service complaints. Not sure what is going on and what to believe. Anyone have any ideas?

okay, my billing cycle runs from the 8th to the 8th. My line was installed on the 19th October. On my invoice, my dates are as follows:

5th October - 8th November
9th November - 8th December

The 2nd one is fine, thats my normal bill cycle. But can anybody explain, how the 1st one runs from the 5th, when my line was only installed 2 weeks later ie 19th October?

so the billing cycle doesnt even run from the 8th October, but from the 5th so that is not right. Kind of annoying this

Hi Guys, I'm sorry if this question has been asked, i am kinda new here so might have missed it. I have a 50Gb softcap + 50Gb add data.
What does the softcap mean. What happens if I o over my softcap? Is the other 50Gb then slower internet?

Is there any way to speed up the process of getting your phone line installed? It has been almost two weeks and according to telkom's help center they do not even have an installation date. There is a telkom line installed, just need to re activate it...

Telkom offered to upgrade our ADSL line

A couple of hours ago we had a call on our Telkom landline from a guy who claimed he was a Telkom employee based in the Durban area.

He knew the details what Telkom ADSL package we are currently on (Telkom Evening Weekender Plan) .. This plan has a soft-cap of 20GB, and it supports a DL of "up to 4Mbps.

I usually achieve a DL of around 3.2 - 3.4 Mbps using various speed checkers. Data used between midnight and 06h00 is not deducted from our data allowance.

He asked us of we would be interested in upgrading our line speed, and claimed that the Swellendam exchange now supports "up to 40 Mbps DL".

I told him that using the ADSL checker on the Telkom site at:
http://www2.telkom.co.za/checkadsl/check.htm we can only get a "up to 4 Mbps" ADSL connection.

He repeated that the Swellendam Exchange can now support up to 40 Mbps, and in fact was quite adamant about this 'fact'

Has anyone else had a similar call? Obviously I would love to believe him, but I don't!

TelkomZA, could you drop me a PM when you are online please, I would like to get a check on my line which is dead slow this morning, 10mbps syncing at 1mbps.
Your call center says I'm sync at 10mbps on your side, which is not the case, and that my ISP is throttling the line speed lol

Router stats:
DownstreamUpstream
SNR Margin (dB):5.96.5
Attenuation (dB):56.051.3
Output Power (dBm):0.0 12.9
Attainable Rate (Kbps):1768440
Rate (Kbps): 1015415

Hey

Unfortunately the "Guy" got your hopes up for nothing, checked with your number I have on record and the Swellendam exchange and unfortunately it has not been upgraded and do not see any plans during the current financial year either :(
Would say the best way to confirm coverage of any Telkom Services is via www.telkom.co.za/coverage.
In some cases the DP records are not updated correctly and then "checkadsl" can show lower speeds than what are available.

If you have the caller ID and time stamp pls PM them, I can try and trace, maybe we can stop him from getting more peoples hopes up:)

Thanks for the reply, and confirmation that the caller was bogus
Unfortunately I have just checked my Telkom handset and the sender's number is listed as "withheld"

Hi TelkomZA,

Please assist and PM me.
I raised two faults via the Telkom EServices site but it does not give any references numbers.

For the last two weeks I am getting really bad speeds on my 4Mbps line.
I get like 0.7Mbps download when doing a speed test.

Please help

Emailed a "Broadband Availability Query" on 22 Sept, from the Telkom website. I could not believe that Cape Town CBD is only able to get 10mbps.

Finally received an email response this morning, confirming the 10mbps limit. Well thanks Telkom for getting back to me, but during the last 55 days, I went out and got a fibre connection. Sorry.

Now I have to wear a seatbelt when I access the web:D

My telkom ADSL line has been down since Monday(2015/11/16). A technician was supposedly dispatched the following day. Problem is that he did not fix the issue. He/she didn't even call to ask if the issues was solved. Since then I have been calling the useless call centre and each time the message has been the same: " We cant contact the technician directly, but we will leave a message on the system for them to get a hold of you bla bla bla" . I have escalated the issue still nothing but silence. 5 days later I am still sitting with the issue and have no idea what to do next.
