Never heard of TI getting their pants in a twist if they throttle you month after month. MWeb was another story but that's all in the past I hear.

It's all done by automated network management software I'm assuming, so the more you download, the bigger the risk of throttling. They have way too many customers to worry about, otherwise they'd have to hire 10 000 separate employees just to sit and watch what every very high data user is getting up to.

good thing is, im streaming without any buffering on this 2MB line. not sure if good or what, but Charl mentioned that my attenuation is 9db and that im about less than a km away from the exchange.
is that good ie the attenuation?

In the past I've bitched about bad service, so it's only fair to do the opposite.
Late yesterday a client lost ADSL connectivity, so I went online to report a line problem.
I imediately got an SMS confirming the fault report.
This morning, when I checked the site, I found it up and working.
I then received a phone call from a Telkom support person who con firmed that the fault had been cleared and explained what had gone wrong and what had been done to fix it.
Now, compare this service level to that I receive from an admin who handles certain functionality and who NEVER replies to the first 3 company critical emails!
Well done Telkom!

Anybody experiencing slow speeds today with Telkom, in the Cape Town area? Its raining really hard, so could that be affecting things?

Jeez that's bad. Check in with their Facebook account, they active today. I'm sorted now, after they did a port reset for meBeen having since yesterday.
Thats on my 10mb Telkom line!!

Bad here atm as well although seems to have been OK during nightsurfer according to logs.

Yeh Mick, struggled to load a webpage all morning, or send emails. I requested assistance via their Facebook page, and they reset my port. Seems okay at the moment.

So no loss with CW, so that's interesting. Is your line with TI or with CW Mick?

Line is with Telkom but routing is determined by the ISP account you are using regardless of who "has" your line.
... btw I've PM'ed TelkomZA with the above.

Okay so in your case, because you using CW for your data, its CW that handles the routing aspect of it? Do I have that right?
Its a question I kept asking, because if an ISP doesn't handle your line physically, then what are the reasons for migrating or moving your line away from Telkom
