Hi there TelkomZA and everyone else,
I have the following problem:
I've requested two line installations at an address in Cape Town.
The first technician who arrived (early in December 2015), claimed that something had to be done at the "manhole" where the Telkom box used to be before he could proceed to install. He said that he would need to request one of the "Telkom" guys to do it, as he was a contractor, and it would take 1-2 days.
Righto, eventually, the second technician arrives (I don't know if the necessary had been done at the manhole), and then claims that the aerial cable feeding the pole that services the address is missing - setback number two. This technician claims that he will log the fault for the missing cable and we'd take things from there.
In my lack of trust in Telkom I, too, logged a fault for the missing cable on 15.12.2015. Since then, I have only but received 4 SMS Messages from Telkom - one acknowledging the fault reported, and three subsequent ones informing me that "Telkom is aware of a cable related fault and are investigating all options to restore service." My word, this tells me NOTHING.
In the meantime, a new installation date has been set for 05.01.2015 after the lady who called me claimed that the cable related fault had been "completed". Again, as a result of my lack of trust in Telkom, I contacted the last technician directly who told me that yes, they (whoever) had worked on something, but were at the incorrect place. Confusing I tell you. Hence, still no cable replaced, still no line installation.
So, in a nutshell, I have been waiting for so long, just to get a line installed, while nothing is actually being done to remedy the problem - the missing cable. All sorts of reasons why the installation cannot be done are given, while the cable is not being replaced. I need to run a business with these lines, and the delay is setting me back tremendously.
Could you (TelkomZA) or anyone else, PLEASE advise me on what procedure I can follow to speed up this process? It is absolutely ridiculous that I have no way of finding out what the REAL progress is on getting the cable replaced.
The fault reference is: 285CWZ151215
Thanks in advance, and I do hope you will be able to do something for me.
Regards.
