Does anybody know what this minus mean? I've never seen this. Telkom guys said they did some changes again to my line

Update to my previous post.
so i logged the call last night and this morning at about 7:20am, i get a call from a telkom tech. and he sorted out my line speed. but holy damn, my latency is sky high. so ill be logging more calls this evening. everything is just so slow.
and i have tried different accounts to see if its not just a network problem.
lets see if Christmas comes early for me.

Technician left the box open at the back of our house after installing landline weeks ago. Said he was coming back but never. Surely this ain't good for the equipment? And I'm still stuck here waiting for any working DSL line, almost 50 days after ordering.

Has anybody from Telkom responded to you yet?

I heard via a little birdie that your ADSL order is unfeasible and should never have been issued as an order in the first place. Demand an honest reply from TelkomZA.

How does this sound: download speed 0.68 Mbps - upload 0.81 Mbps on a 10 Mbps business line. I did find out one thing, don't phone Telkom support if the internet is slow, they will reset the port and you will go from 2 Mbps download speed to 200 kbps if your lucky. This problem goes back to February, 10 days working and 20 days with speed so slow that you can not even download email due to timeouts.
Telkom must be the worst company ever

Downstream Upstream

Attenuation (dB): 325 192

I don't know if these stats are good or bad but it works for me.

Getting 3.78mbps on speedtest currently with a 4mbps account.

Yep me. 4mbps line, I was under 3mbps on the download.

Same here. Got thru to a telkom techie yesterday who was quiet upfront and indicated they're having a lot of issues with their 011 numbers lately, not sure if that includes your area.

I have a 20meg VDSL line, been syncing at 12 for the past coupla weeks. And I'm under 1km from the DSLAM.

TelkomZA, i tried to send you a pm but it says your inbox is full, i cant do anything on my line it is horrible, please help

Hi there TelkomZA and everyone else,

I have the following problem:

I've requested two line installations at an address in Cape Town.

The first technician who arrived (early in December 2015), claimed that something had to be done at the "manhole" where the Telkom box used to be before he could proceed to install. He said that he would need to request one of the "Telkom" guys to do it, as he was a contractor, and it would take 1-2 days.

Righto, eventually, the second technician arrives (I don't know if the necessary had been done at the manhole), and then claims that the aerial cable feeding the pole that services the address is missing - setback number two. This technician claims that he will log the fault for the missing cable and we'd take things from there.

In my lack of trust in Telkom I, too, logged a fault for the missing cable on 15.12.2015. Since then, I have only but received 4 SMS Messages from Telkom - one acknowledging the fault reported, and three subsequent ones informing me that "Telkom is aware of a cable related fault and are investigating all options to restore service." My word, this tells me NOTHING.

In the meantime, a new installation date has been set for 05.01.2015 after the lady who called me claimed that the cable related fault had been "completed". Again, as a result of my lack of trust in Telkom, I contacted the last technician directly who told me that yes, they (whoever) had worked on something, but were at the incorrect place. Confusing I tell you. Hence, still no cable replaced, still no line installation.

So, in a nutshell, I have been waiting for so long, just to get a line installed, while nothing is actually being done to remedy the problem - the missing cable. All sorts of reasons why the installation cannot be done are given, while the cable is not being replaced. I need to run a business with these lines, and the delay is setting me back tremendously.

Could you (TelkomZA) or anyone else, PLEASE advise me on what procedure I can follow to speed up this process? It is absolutely ridiculous that I have no way of finding out what the REAL progress is on getting the cable replaced.

The fault reference is: 285CWZ151215

Thanks in advance, and I do hope you will be able to do something for me.

Regards.

This is ridiculous. Logged a ADSL fault on the 19th December, it then gets closed today after Telkom "confirmed issue is resolved" even though issue is still there and I wasn't contacted. I then chat to the agent to please re-open the same ticket, only for them to create a new one instead...

@TelkomZA: Can you kindly assist me with 54CRZ191215, this is the original ticket that was closed and has all the details. Basically, I have a 20Mb VDSL line however am having a max sync rate of 12Mb for the past few weeks. My line stats are super as I'm close to the exchange, even a Telkom field technician verified this last week. Latest update was that Techie was going to request my profile to be "reset" back to 20Mb. Instead of this being done, my ticket has now been closed.

Just in case the reset was done without informing me, I reset my modem a couple of times today but am still hitting the 12Mb even though the modem's attainable data rate is 45Mb. This is really frustrating.

Issues after being switched to Interleave mode (10MB to 12MB) ADSL

TelkomZA, I'm unable to PM you since your box is full

I came back from holiday only to find out that I've been bumped from 10MB to 12MB on my ADSL (which is awesome). However I'm experiencing couple of issues
  1. High latency. I'm unable to access some some sites, getting lots of timeouts
  2. Continuous ADSL disconnects.. very annoying
I looked at my router stats and I see that I've been switched to Interleave mode. Can I please be switched back to Fastpath mode. I never had issues and everything was running smooth and had better latency for critical sites.

Hi TelkomZA

Will PM you if needed or later on in the month when you have had a chance to recover from holiday messages. You have helped me before and commented on exceptional line quality however things have since changed.

There was a storm on 12 December and our exchange is at the top of a hill, the last time there had been a serious one caused me unable to sync for a day or so which means "Check the router stats" after every storm. I did this and things had changed, 20mbit was now gone and my line stats had decreased.

Previous line stats
Modulation: ADSL2 PLus
Downstream Snr: 14
Upstream Snr: 12
Downstream Attenuation: 18
Upstream Attenuation: 11
Sync Speed: 20mbps/1028Up

New Line Stats
Previous line stats
Modulation: ADSL2 PLus
Downstream Snr: 7.3
Upstream Snr: 9.5
Downstream Attenuation: 18
Upstream Attenuation: 11
Sync Speed: 18428/10179

Eventually technicians came round and they said my line was stable and that telkom only supports 20mbit up to 1.3 km and I was 1.5km from the exchange, since I was not losing sync they could not help. I asked if using VDSL modulation would help at all and they said no since VDSL only works for less than 1km

I tried different modems, NetgearDGN2200 and a Billion which both use the same chipset, the telkom pace one wouldnt even sync since it sucks so bad at line quality.

I know its a case of the line being stable and it being a mere 2mbps loss but the case remains that I am now unable to get a service that I used to be able to get.

Perhaps you can help with this.
This morning we noticed our line wasn't working no incoming or outgoing plus no internet.10210 told me my line was suspended due non payment but I'm actually in credit with them. After half a day I got through to the accounts who told me my no was not suspended but the no I'm phoning from is suspended .After speaking to their technical it turns out I now have the suspended phone no on my line and my own number and line is now faulty. When I phone my number from my cell it rings the home line now but the suspended no shows on my cellphone. This ever happend to anyone before?

I'm not sure if it's due to the tweet i sent TelkomZA but my call was resolved in under 2 hours. So thank you :)
