I had similar issue in 9.10 with the E220. I have the K3715 now and it works flawlessly in 10.04. I was connected for 6 hours the other day with no issues. Must be an issue with the E220. Bit worrying that they haven't fixed it in 6 months. Have you logged a bug on Launchpad?

6 months? It's been over a year. The problem started in 9.04. I had to switch back to 8.10 to get 3G.
I'm getting Ubuntu tomorrow finally (this silly uncapped shaping makes it too slow to download), can't wait to install.

Up and running on Lucid on my netbook. Did the upgrade via wireless, so no probs with wireless here. Had some hassle getting my K3565 modem working, but downloading the latest vodafone connect driver from Betavine (and a reboot) sorted that out (this message from the netbook via vodacom).

There is a known issue with broadband modems (3G/HSDPA) in Lucid--the ubuntuforums are buzzing with this.

I've had no problems with the K3565 modem (using the betavine drivers) since I got it while 9.04 was the active release. I'd be rather pi$$ed off if it didn't work as I rely on 3G for horse racing...

No problems with my Vodafone B970 HSPA wireless router.

Thinking it might only be certain modems, etc that gives issues - my Nokia worked fine on 8.10, wouldn't work thereafter. Know about people with the E220 that struggled then too. Others might have worked fine then.

confirmed. the e220 disconnecting seems to be an issue lingering since at least 9.10 (pkid).
guys at work recon switching back to 9.04 sorted it out though (froot). no experience myself, so cannot vouch.

admit, have not checked ubuntu forums nor logged a fault yet (Smiley_lauf). will do. hoping for an update to fix it, but will look into 'betavine' as a workaround til then.

For the last 3 or 4 years, Ive downloaded every net Ubuntu to try out, but the longest it lasted on my Pc was a week. 10.04 is definately the exeption - this is a keeper. Im running it on a Acer Aspire One Netbook and it is brilliant.

I have noticed an issue on my wife's PC. Sometimes when she logs in it doesn't load the network icon but rather 2 volume icons. Logging off and logging on solves the issue. It is very minor but annoying nonetheless.

Thats wierd, have you fully updated.

Yes, I keep my machine updated. Did a reboot this afternoon before going home and the services did startup correctly.

I did wait a 30 seconds before logging in this time. I did remember reading something about GDM and various dameons not playing nice. At least with 10.04 there is very active development in resolving bugs and this gives a bit more piece of mind.

Will be switching my home desktop to 10.04 this weekend.

I reckon most of the remaining bugs and the like will be fixed in the next few weeks and thereafter Lucid will rock! (even more than it does now :) )

I got this quite often with 9.10. It seemed to occur when I plugged in my 3G modem before the boot/login process was complete. That was really irritating as without a network icon you couldn't select the service provider.

in Terminal

Step 2
Step 3

Then you change your resolution and Color depth
or maybe at "advance" change bootsplash resolution

It's not this easy, if you're running an ATI or nVidia graphics card with proprietary drivers.
