Two horse race this has become....Well will be watching keenly on Wednesday to see if my team Sundowns can keep up the pressure on SS.
Frankly, I don't think this will go to the wire like the previous ones,,, by the end of this week we should know who the champs are. But for the sake of our 3 X record I hope SS stumbles against Santos.

Thanks for updating with scores, was at university all day. Chiefs are out of it, and it's down to Sundowns and SuperSport. I'm hoping that it goes down to the last week, or last day, like it did for the last 2 seasons.

Upcoming fixtures:
Tomorrow:
19:30 Golden Arrows v Kaizer Chiefs Moses Mabhida Stadium (SuperSport 4)
19:30 Santos v SuperSport United Athlone Stadium (SABC 1)

Wednesday:
15:30 Free State Stars v Bidvest Wits Charles Mopeli Stadium
19:30 Black Aces v Maritzburg Utd Puma Rugby Stadium
19:30 Mamelodi Sundowns v Platinum Stars Super Stadium (SABC 1)
19:30 Jomo Cosmos v Bloem Celtic Rand Stadium (SuperSport Blitz)
20:00 Moroka Swallows v Ajax Cape Town Olympia Stadium (SABC 1)
20:00 Orlando Pirates v AmaZulu Orlando Stadium (SuperSport 4)

Btw, is Olympia Stadium 'Olympia Park' in Rustenburg?

Golden Arrows 0 - 0 Kaizer Chiefs

With 3 games to go, Supersport can almost smell the trophy now. Their games are not too tough either - Platinum Stars(A), Wits(H), Amazulu(A), all teams that are in the bottom half of the table.
Sundowns on the other hand, they still need to play, Platinum Stars(H), Santos(H), Swallows(H), Cosmos(A) and Arrows(H),
That's just too many potential banana peels there for 'Downs. But we will fight till the end ;)

I agree, looks like SuperSport have it in the bag, they'll be celebrating at Moses Mabhida Stadium on the 6th of March.

This weekend is also the first leg of the CAF Champions League qualifiers, Pirates play Gaborone United at University of Botswana Stadium on Saturday. SuperSport play Mbabane Swallows from Swaziland.

SSU again. No competition for my boys.
Lets close this thread please.

if Downs lose or draw tonight thats it....
its an awesome acheivement to win it 3rd year running for Supersport but i would just LOVE it to come down to the last day and both teams need to score goals like mad. Supersport have got it pretty easy compared to Sdowns though....
Im bitterly dissapointed with Chiefs.... but hopefully Musona keeps this form and grows from here (crazy talent!) .
Am sure Pirates will get thier 5th 0-0 draw in a row... that must be some record.lmao!

GO Sundowns!

Last night's results:

Moroka Swallows 2 - 1 Ajax Cape Town
Orlando Pirates 2 - 0 AmaZulu
Jomo Cosmos 0 - 1 Bloem Celtic
Mamelodi Sundowns 1 - 0 Platinum Stars
Black Aces 1 - 0 Maritzburg Utd
Free State Stars 1 - 1 Bidvest Wits

Sundowns stay in the hunt for the title, looks like this season may go down to the wire.

This weekends fixtures:

Saturday
15:30 Platinum Stars v Free State Stars Moruleng Stadium
Sunday, February
15:30 Mamelodi Sundowns v Santos Super Stadium (SuperSport 4)

In terms of promotion/relegation, it's the last round of the NFD:

The inland streams play offs teams are decided: Black Leopards (38 points) and African Warriors (37). All that's left to be decided is who wins the stream.
In the coastal stream 3 teams are still fighting for the 2 spots: Vasco da Gama (35), Bay United (34) and Nathi Lions (33).

Fixtures involving teams that can make the play offs, all game on Saturday:
Inland:
15:30 Black Leopards v United FC Tshifulanani
15:30 African Warriors v Dynamos Charles Mopeli Stadium

Coastal:
15:30 Nathi Lions v Carara Kicks Chatsworth Stadium
15:30 Bay United v Thanda Royal Zulu FC EPRU Stadium
15:30 Hanover Park v Vasco Da Gama Wynberg Military Stadium

I'll be at the EPRU Stadium, hoping that Bay United make it to the play offs. PE really needs a PSL team!

I hate Bay United so much right now! They fluffed their chance, and drew 2 - 2. That means that Vasco da Gama and Nathi Lions go through from the coastal stream and Black Leopards and African Warriors from teh inland stream. :(

LEAGUE OVER........

WELL DONE SSU for 3 seasons back to back. Gavin Hunt should be honoured with the highest coaching award possible.

oh and im dissapointed Sundowns for not fighting

It's not over yet...there are still three games to play...

On the honour for Gavin Hunt I think, we should rather honour Gordon Igusend first...If I'm not mistaken he has won the title with 4 times with 4 different clubs ( including misnnows like Manning Rangers and Santos)...and all of them in his very first season with each club...

yeah id love SSU to slip up but compare thier fixtures to Sundowns and they have it easy .
Sundowns have still gotta play Cosmos who will be dying to stay in the league.

Yeah Igusend should be honoured aswell but for 3 back to back seasons....thats also damn special! :wtf:

I'm a Sundowns fan and was not even perturbed by yesterday's result. This league race might go down to the last day...
In football, the hardest matches to win are sometimes against the teams that have nothing to play for... They are under no pressure like Santos was yesterday.

CAF Champions League games involving PSL teams:

Gaborone Unite 0 - 0 Orlando Pirates
Mbabane Swallow 1 - 3 SuperSport United

SuperSport look set to go trough to the next round, Pirates will need to be careful in the return leg in PE.

This is how the table looks going into the last 3 games:

SuperSport 54
Sundowns 52
Kaizer Chiefs 44
Orlando Pirates 42
Santos 41
Bloem Celtic 39
Ajax CT 37
Swallows 35
Platinum Stars 31
Maritzburg Utd 31
FS Stars 30
Golden Arrows 30
AmaZulu 30
Wits 29
Black Aces 24
Jomo Cosmos 21

Looks like SSU will win, but I'm hoping for a close finish. At the bottom, I hope that Cosmos go down, and Black Leopards come up. I hope that Black Aces can survive the play-offs and stay up.

From my side I'm hoping that Celtics can pick up one more victory to ensure a top 8 finish. It would make it mission accomplished for the season.

Why is that some teams play for the top 8 others play just to avoid relegation while others gun for the league title?
Why would one set their expectations so low right from the start...
I mean, it's the same everywhere, EPL, SerieA, LA Liga etc. Had Jomo Cosmos aimed for the league title, they would have ended up in the top 8 maybe.
Bloem Celtic was fighting to stay up last season and this season they gunned for the title from the gig go and look where they are now.
