The Official Cyanogenmod Thread

I would first try installing it over 10.1 and see if you have any issues. The new GAPPS is just a collection of up to date apps. But it is good to get it. You might even find that some of them might be "old", but that isn't a problem. If you find that after installing 10.2 and GAPPS that you have issues, then backup, wipe and redo

Thanks. I did that.

Only issues so far is that it is extremely laggy after startup. Sometimes takes up to 4 seconds to record a "keystroke" or longer to open an app.

Gets better after about 5min but I'm pretty sure it shouldn't be like that.

The other issue is that I have no data throughput on mobile network. The icon never turns blue even though it shows the 3G or H icon.

Thinking about restoring from my backup.

Erm... I've never done that with an update?

I guess it is too late to go and do it now?

No it is not too late. Do this just before you intend to roll back to a previous backup. But this is something I would do before rolling back to a previous backup to see if it fixes my issues.

EDIT: Normally the installer will wipe cache and dalvik cache, but not fix permissions. So it is something you can try.

EDIT EDIT: Fixing permissions is not something that normally gets done when updating (manually or with installer). But it has solved a couple of issues for me in the past when it looks like a new install seems buggy

Cool. I will wipe cache, fix permissions and then roll back to 10.1.3.

Will then do the 10.2 thing all over again. Hopefully it works. Otherwise I'll be back on 10.1 permanently

Just wipe cache and dalvik cache, fix permissions and use the phone on 10.2 to see if the problems are fixed. Don't roll back yet. Only if it doesn't solve your problems, roll back

Nope.

It does seem a little less laggy but still no data throughput on mobile network.

Checked APN settings and they are correct. Guess I'll be rolling back. Can't go without mobile data.

No big problem.

That is why backups are so important. If I had to set up everything from scratch I would have felt liKe this...

Successfully rolled back to 10.1.3 and everything is running smooth again.

I still wonder what would have cause my mobile data to have no throughput on 10.2.

CM 10.2 is finally stable now. I was on 4.4 for a while but it's still early and lacked features, so reverted back to CM10.2 and it's great. The only problem is that between 4.4 and 4.3 the backups don't like each other very much, so it is a case of starting all over again...

No, that’s not a typo – you read that correctly. Today we release CM 11.0 M1 for all actively AOSP-supported Nexus devices – all variants of the Nexus 7, the Nexus 4, Nexus 5 and Nexus 10.

Some background on this change of order. Normally, this would be the point in time where we turn on CM 11 nightlies. From there, we would spend the next few weeks (or longer) in the nightlies, all the while not allowing you guys (the users) to offer support in the form of bug reports. Taking reports against the constantly changing nightly codebase is too resource intensive, but at the same time, waiting another month to get them going is, in all honesty, wasted time. So, with this change, we are going for the best of both.

The AOSP-supported Nexus devices should have minimal to no device specific issues (as their hardware code comes mostly from Google). We’ve also done our due diligence and tested these devices, to make sure they behave properly. Any bugs that crop up on these builds should be centered around CM issues – items that we’ve introduced. By acknowledging them sooner, the entire CM 11 roster will benefit.

Speaking of the rest of the roster, we will be enabling CM 11 nightlies for the non-Nexus devices as well. As the device tree’s for these other devices (including the Galaxy Nexus) are brought up by our team, it stands to reason there may be other issues that are yet to be discovered. We will be monitoring nightly usage and issues, and use that info to move towards adding more devices to the M1/M2 list and the eventual 11.0 release.

A follow-up post will be made with the full nightly roster by the end of this week. We’re off to go pick at the new Android 4.4.1 code.

Happy Flashing!

Edit: If you receive issues on flashing, double check your download. We are also hearing reports of issues with TWRP recovery, so for now, suggestion is to use ClockworkMod recovery.
