The Official Cyanogenmod Thread

Anyone have any ideas here?

I've just tried installing cm-11-20140104-SNAPSHOT-M2-i9300.zip

I'm getting E:Error in /sdcard/cm-11-20140104-SNAPSHOT-M2-i9300.zip (Status 7) Installation aborted.

Does this mean the zip is corrupt? I'm in limbo now as I've wiped SD, so cannot get another zip. Catch 22 :(

I'll have to get the same zip again and validate it or try a nightly which may work.

Alternatively, I've seen the bootloader may be out of date? How do I check this? http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/79311-unable-to-install-102-nightly-status-7-message-help-please/

Further to my Status 7 error above, I'm using CWM v5.5.0.4 :: CF-v1.5

I've seen that error before. The zip file is most likely the culprit. There are a number of fixes for it, but this one explains it best.

Sounds good. That also mentions updating CWM can resolve the assert error. I'll try that this evening, as I'm unable to edit the zip on my phone at present. I reckon the latest CWM is better to have regardless.

I'll then try installing the original zip. If that still fails, I'll remove the assert.

Hope that works :)

http://www.androible.com/install-cm...-unofficial-build-galaxy-s3-i9300-custom-rom/ shows CWM v6.0.3.2

I guess I'll have to try that from home this evening. I'm stuck with no phone until then

If I'm not mistaken, you have to upgrade your current recovery prior to flashing a CM11 based ROM.

I'm using CWM 6.0.4.4 but TWRP 2.6.3.1 also works. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=47529441&postcount=604)

Apparently TWRP is better. I don't know what that is though. I've updated CWM to v6.0.3

In all this dicking around, my extSD has become corrupted. There's backup data on there I need- are there android apps available to scan/fix an extSD card?

I'm now home and downloading another cm11 to an old sdcard.

Man. Such a simple but fundamental requirement should be mentioned somewhere. I just grabbed the cm11, wiped phone and tried installing on my outdated CWM. :(

Got the new cm11. It fails too. Tried removing the assert portions- that fails too. Tried just the first line (instructions are ambiguous) - that failed too :(

Now going to try the latest nightly.

WTF.

It's obviously an off-shoot of CM but Temasek is extremely quick to correct faults and his advantage over the CM developers is that he also draws from other ROM's such as Omni, so effectively you getting the best of everything.

I've been on his ROM's for the past 12 months or so and have never had a problem. I flashed his latest version this morning.

Thanks. I rolled back to 10.2 for a week.

Further reading reveals it could have been many things- zip, CWM version, baseband etc etc...

I eventually re-installed CWM to latest version with: ROM Manager. Re-downloaded the stable CM11 and successfully got it all up and running this morning.

My only problem now is the CM11 M2 doesn't allow me to switch off the 'electron beam' :(

This is apparently fixed in the nightlies, but I don't have time to play in that space yet...

Anybody using the CM Installer or are you still flashing via Recovery Mode?

I haven't updated for quite some time and see the installer is new.

Weird. I just flashed CM11 Nightly successfully but upon restart all my apps were missing. It only had CameraZoomFX and OfficeSuite still installed, nothing else.

I was still running CM10.1.3 before this.

Busy restoring via Nandroid Backup now.

What did I do wrong?
