The weight loss thread

Thank you @BouncyNinja and @Rah_Skill, really appreciate the responses. I am planning on seeing my regular GP, I just wanted to check. Are any of these options legitimate? They came up when I was doing research and I'm quite curious on whether or not they can be trusted or if this is a trap for people that are trying to start down this path.

I'm in the same boat as you with regard to a bad back. Ozempic has pretty much killed any appetite I've had and just trying to eat something makes me feel nauseous. I assume things will calm down the longer I'm on it but this negative reinforcement on eating works wonders. For instance, I've gone from a morning of 6 cups of coffee (with 4 teaspoons each) to struggling to finish one cup. It's also cut down my portion sizes considerably when I do eat.

Speak to your doctor about going on it. I had to do some blood tests first but, after that, he was happy to prescribe semaglutides. Weight loss is off-label for Ozempic usage so I had to sign an indemnity form. Otherwise, it's been smooth sailing.

Not sure for Cape Town but there doesn't appear to be supply issues in Durban. I phoned around a few different places and they all stocked Mounjaro/Wegovy/Ozempic. Clicks is your best bet, because you can drop off your script at one then pick up your next dose at any other Clicks if your first choice runs out.

Will only know after a month if it's working for me but so far so good.
I am glad it is working. What dosage are you on?

I am on week 5 now, first week of 0.5mg ozempic. To me it feels like nothing is happening. :( I still feel the same and I don't think I have lost any weight yet. I still feel like I can eat normally too. :(

I’m weary of anything medical online, you never know what you would be really getting, there’s many “compounding” pharmacies online , where they make their own copy of legit meds, I would honestly in this case go through a legitimate pharmacy

See if your doctor would switch you to wygovi, it’s labelled use is for weight loss, however , I’m aiming the mounjaro song , it’s working, hard ( although not so much this week, nothing lost ). I’m on week 13 ( 14th dose will be on Sunday) and 24kg down

Biggest thing with these meds is keeping up with water intake

I would love to try wygovi or even mounjaro but the price is the limiting factor bud. How much water do yu drink per day? I hardly drink water hey.

Took a reversal in Aug24 when my was was pregnant and worked VERY VERY hard since baby arrived to get all that weight back off esp after losing 14kg to start with. Thats officially 8.6kg down since April.

I am now officially at the lowest I have been in 6 years and intent to see what my "bottom" is I recon its going to stablise at 94kg but Im feeling healthier than ever!

To all the rest of you working hard keep it up!

The above is from gym, diet, 2 beer cap a week, 1 "sweet" a day and two cups of coffee daily. 7 cups of coffee with milk etc adds more than you think.
Little guy is now 4.5 months, sleeping like a dream 2 months of unbroken night time sleep. Settling into our new schedules.
My wife and I walk the dog and the little man is strapped to me (progressive overload FTW!) and walk 3-4.5km every afternoon.

Last month is below.

Also settling back into gym routine, went back to my earlier easier and shorter full body work out. Was sick for three weeks so gave my body a rest but back in action.

What I am most proud of is getting my triglcerides down from 7.2 (1.7 is top end) to 0.88 and weight down to lowest I have likely been in 10 years.

I am about 20kg down from my top end weight 3 years ago and 12.7kg down since April.

Biggest issue now is all my formal clothes need to be replaced or tailored :)

Keep up the hard work all!

I’m assuming all is the same but my doc prescribed me wegovy , assuming all is good with this one

Not as potent as mounjaro, but effective, some people have better results with wegovy , some with mounjaro, see how you do, also ,Keep up with water , binge drink it, depending on how big you are 3-5L a day!

Get probiotics and digestive enzymes, constipation is real with this.. I find a handful of roasted , salted mixed nuts helps with that as well.

Good luck!

Tomorrow is my start of week 15, and 3rd week of 15mg , 26KG down, still have a very very long way to go, but now starting to feel the results of that weight being off.

For me personally , it’s not about eating less , I’m actually eating a bit more , because I’m not only eating dinner , breaking a 40 year old habit and forcing my body to adjust to this and work properly has been a challenge, but now, breakfast is a boiled egg, for day time at work, nibble on dry wors, and mixed nuts ( every few hours) and then dinner.

One day, WHEN ( not if) I get to my goal, I’ll share the before and after, the graphs , etc ( nice app called shotsy , tracks everything about this journey)

Watching people ion this thread get ozempic so easily is depressing me. 5 Dr and Specilists as well as R30k+ out of pocket expenses I feel like I'm even further away from ever getting a prescription for ozempic.

1st Dr refused referred me to a Urologist to check Testosterone etc

Urologist did his checks and scans and confirmed everything is 100% refers me to an Endocrinologist.

Endocrinologist does R13k worth of blood tests. Her Consultation fee is R3000 also just to tell me we will first treat your low T with Testosterone injections. R3200 for 4 x nebido shots. Back to her a year later and another round of R8k blood tests now she says Euthyrox for hyperthyroidism first to see if that helps.

Still gaining weight.

Go to a new Dr to see what he says he flat-out refuses and says the only solution is to eat less and exercise. Tell him I'm struggling with sleep apnea he refers me to a specialist to do a sleep study.

Specialist did the sleep study and now I need a cpap machine.

I'm out of pocket thousands of Rands everyone just treating symptoms related to my obesity and no one has the balls to write a damn script so I can start on ozempic to assist with the weightloss. I think I have reached my limit. If I die from from obesity related complications, then so be it.

I literally went to my gp, and said I feel fat and want to try mounjaro, and left with a script

check one of my previous post. describe using https://onlinedoctorsa.co.za/. Cost R250. Think the only thing that has changed is they give you a blood test sheet to go get done at ampath/lancet to do for some basic markers. Still going to cost you thousands though as medical aid wont cover ozempic/mounjaro for weightloss

Damn, hope I can get these amazing results that everyone is posting here, will look at this.

I assume the 0.25mg of Wegovy is in the testing period to see if I can handle it and then it increases each month ?

My water intake is so poor but will have to get the numbers up!

Sorry to hear that cavedog,

I did go to my local Medicross and doc made me to do bloods (not sure if he tested my T levels ) but he seemed to focus on sugar, cholesterol, etc

Had a consult, he explained the details and signed me up.

Sounds like you are getting a run around unfortuately
