Vodacom iPhone 4 Pricing Unveiled

No Free Bumpers. Called Istore. They say these phones don't have a reception issue!!! Wonder if it is a new batch which fixes the reception problems with shorting out of aerial with your hands or Apple just sent the last batch of the faulty phones to RSA????

Anyone know????

Actually this is a bit of an ambiguous topic. What I gather, is the following facts;

• The antenna issue is real, and does exist, but…
• Apple no longer see it as a big issue, claiming it only effects a very very small percentage (like as in single digits), and are therefore going back to the claim that the phone is fine for resale.

Not sure if they will be proven correct or not, but they usually have great support…? The whole debacle has sort of thrown everyone for a loop, so only time will tell if they are telling the truth, or if this is just marketing spin. I guess it is something one should take into consideration before buying, especially if you are left handed (but who cares about lefties anyway?).

I for one, do think the whole issue was blown out of proportion, and I choose to believe I will not have an issue. Let’s be honest, Apple does have a loyal hater following, so their problems are often exaggerated. The iPhone 3g was supposed to drop call incessantly, which I am sure some people experienced. I for one have never had a dropped call, so go figure.

can i take out a new mtn contract -- and 4 months later port my existing vodacom number to the mtn contract. reason being - i have a vodacom contract and my phone got buggered beyond repair(cost is as good as buying a new phone) so im using a spare. now i want an iphone but my upgrade is only in 4 months time and i dont want to lose my number - so effectivly il have two contracts till the vodacom one expires and becomes pre-paid when i cancel it.

no... you need to pay off your vodacom contract (early settlement), and then port it before signing the new contract.

I was recently told by MTN that you can port right now and just pay off the remaining sub on your old contract until it expires...

Phone MTN. The company that you are porting TO is usually a lot more helpful than the company that you are porting FROM...

Well then don't enter the Apple ecosystem.

Stick to Android by all means. Steve will be sad... not

Anybody know if the iPhone 4 is network locked to MTN or Vodacom?
:whistle:

I think the MTN took a gamble on this one. They probably knew Voda was going to stick to their high prices and then did the opposite, basically hoping to make their money back in the long run(out-of-bundle rates). When MTN is done raping Voda of all its subscribers, it will be handing the honors to its customers. Especially the Anytime 200 subscribers. The subscription amount is more than what I'm paying on my HTC Touch Pro 2 on Anytime 350(at R370) minus the data bundle. I also have an out-of-bundle limit set, which isn't guaranteed to always work(this is what they say). My bill for Dec09-Jan10 was R1600. All in all, I appreciate them taking the effort of making it "affordable" to the masses(there goes the novelty, THANK GOD) but the truth is that we're still getting raped solid!

As for me, I'll be upgrading in December. Hoping to get a Moto/Samsung/HTC Droid with QWERTY. Coupled with maybe an iTouch, just so I can blend in :)
